The D.C. Chapter of Free Republic invites all FReepers and lurkers in good standing to join us Wednesday morning from 9 a.m. until at least 10 a.m. as we freep the former Vice Perpetraitor Al Gore. Here is the announcement from his host, the Brookings Institution:
A Brookings Newsmaker Forum
Al Gore to Deliver Economic Policy Speech at Brookings
Wednesday, October 02, 2002
10a.m - 11 a.m.
Falk Auditorium
The Brookings Institution
1775 Massachusetts Avenue, NW
Washington, DC 20036
Washington, D.C.Former Vice President Al Gore will deliver a speech on economic policy issues at the Brookings Institution five weeks before the mid-term congressional and gubernatorial elections.
With this economic policy speech and a recent speech in San Francisco criticizing the Bush administration's policies on the war against terrorism, a possible invasion of Iraq, and other foreign policy issues, Gore will have addressed the principal issues facing voters.
Since the end of the contested 2000 presidential election, Al Gore has taught at Columbia University, Fisk University, and Middle Tennessee State University. He was first elected to the U.S. House of Representatives in 1976, and in 1984 was elected to U.S. Senate. Before earning the Democratic nomination for president in 2000, he was a candidate for the nomination in 1988.
The Brookings Institution is an independent, nonpartisan research organization that seeks to improve the performance and quality of U.S. public policies. The Institution's activities are carried out through three research programs (Economic Studies, Foreign Policy Studies, and Governance Studies) as well as through the Center for Public Policy Education and the Brookings Institution Press.
Wish I had known about that in advance, but I had already left for the Gore speech. We had 5 FReepers and 5 college Repubs who joined us, but I'll let Kristinn start a thread on the sucessful FReep.
Where did you find out about the Baghdad Bonior and McTraitor news conference? Wish I could have been there.
I did hear McDermott say, "perhaps I overstated my case", to Major Garrett, who says he had to ask 3 times, "Did you call the president a liar?". Garrett on FOX says "major back pedals from Bonior and McDermott." DUH.
McDermott's going to be on Donahue tonight...it will be two old geezers mind masterbating each other!
I hope Major Garrett has a piece up on foxnews.com explaining in full his tough questioning of Bonior and McDermott. Sounds (from his reports), as if he did a great job!!
