Torricelli is lying (Plus, I think this is all a ploy)

First Torecelli is lying his rear-end off. I'll bet those names that he saw in the desk he was sitting at are not there. This should be easy to verify whether Humphries, Fulbright, and Morse signed the same desk.

Second, I'll bet the Sadat story is BS as well.

More importantly, I'll bet that he is not actually resigning. He will announce that he is, but he will not actually do it. Then, next week, the Governor will announce that the law will not allow them to do what they want to do.

Meanwhile, Torecelli will have been going around giving his sob story and telling everyone what a great patriot and congressman he was.

He will then say, well, for the sake of New Jersey he will stay in the race.

The race will no longer have been about his corruption, but about his lifelong service, etc.

Just my thoughts.

As a life long resident of the Peoples Republic of New Jersey, I totally agree with your conclusions.

New Jersey is the rectum of America (and the World...and the Universe).

I hate New Jersey!!!

Every time I drive down the road it takes all my self control not to turn into the on coming traffic (which -- this being Jersey -- will be a minivan driving, Clinton loving, over-weight, under-sexed, soccer mom with her f***** tax drain, moronic, snot nosed kids!!)

You're thinking there will be a groundswell of sympathy for him and he'll be elected and decide to stay on?

It could happen.

It's not so much sympathy as it is the realization that control of the Senate is at stake. The NJ soccer moms (who are well described in the above few posts) will figure: Who cares if the Torch took some money, the Republicans are evil...etc. What the Torch needed was to refocus this race on the issues. For the next two weeks, all the media will be about the issues, and how Forrester is "out of touch" with the New Jersey voters. Plus, the liberals will paint the Republicans as being against democracy for trying to keep another Dem off of the ballot. Then, when Torricelli jumps back in..presto! He's re-elected.

New Jersey has been a second home to my family all my life. My mother was born and raised in NJ (Murray Hill) and lived in Ocean City as a teenager, working at Shrivers in the '40s. My family had a house on Long Beach Island since 1959 and I practically grew up there in the summers.

That is why it sickens me to see what a disgusting liberal toilet New Jersey has become. It is like a kick in the stomach. Somehow, the teachers and the rest of the parasites took over. The place is gone for good. Oh well.
