Yep, you are correct..... His term expires on Jan. 3, 2003 or earlier should he resign. Then someone else takes over for the 108th, but should he resign between now and then the Gov could appoint someone. And according to the NJ law cited above if the resignation comes within 30 days of the election on Nov 5, then the appointment could run until the next General Election unless a special one was called. Now if that passes Judicial muster we don't know, do we?

Of course, people can SAY anything. Did you know I'm Elizabeth Taylor? You were once married to Senator Warner? Yick.

Did you know I'm Elizabeth Taylor?
What was with that whole Richard Burton Thing..?

I have another question. At what point can the last minute replacement candidate legally collect campaign contributions? Currently the Dem's candidate is still the Torch. Wouldn't an illegitimate Dem candidate be committing fraud by soliciting funds for this race until he is on the ballot?

"But if Clinton were to get an apartment by Monday ....he could do it." Oh, I beg you...please have some sympathy for my already stressed cardiovascular system!
Tell me you're kidding!

My worst nightmare:
(helicopter shot hovering above the interstate showing a yellow ryder truck)
Perky yet Smarmy Katie Curic: "Good Morning. "Bill Clintons truck on it's way to the state of New Jersey as Bill Clinton makes a move to run for the U.S. Senate, TODAY, October 1st, 2002"
To: chnsmok
If they know it how can claim with any sincerity its about a choice? Their man won a primary, how is that now in violation of not having a choice?
To: A CA Guy
Beleaguered by his bad polling numbers IMO, so how can he chose to just drop out? The Senate itself did not throw him out. How can anyone after the deadline say, "Gee, I'm losing abnd the Senate is gone for sure, so I want to quit to cheat the Republicans of my seat. Slightly transparent. Reminds me of how, in my college, we couldn't just drop out of a course within x days of finals if we were failing. If we could, we would be spared the failing grade. Of course, I never had to worry about this regulation LOL

Re Post 1638. Please let it be so.

I don't see how they can cite any state law which will in effect extend a US senate seat for longer than six years as is constitutional by design.
I've stated this before but will say it again: this isn't about Toricelli. This is about denying Forrester his right to run for the US senate.
To: San Jacinto
Thank you sir.

CRASH AND BURN...Democrats show the country a new way to win an election. Or is that LOSE an election?

"At what point can the last minute replacement candidate legally collect campaign contributions?"
You got me? But they are saying that Lautenberg is open to it and he has enough money on his own to mount a challenge with only a month left.

What was with that whole Richard Burton Thing..?What about that Michael Jackson Thing..?

Who posted the prize fighter analogy? Just mentioned on Hugh Hewitt radio show as coming from Free Republic.

A Primary Election was held in June and the TORCH emerged as the winner and standard bearer for the Democrap Party!
He really represents the essence of the Democrap Party! Now wasn't it only a week ago that Little Tommy Dasshole was here in NJ telling everyone what an outstanding person and senator that the TORCH is?
Since Dasshole had access to all the Senate records on the TORCH ethics investigation and still came to NJ to try and fool everyone, shouldn't he be tried for perpetrating a fraud? What about the RICO statutes that were used against the pro-life demonstrators?
To: isthisnickcool
There is also the insurance fraud issue and filing a false police report. I kinda figured this one out after listening to a link last night someone posted that included a report on Torricelli. I think it was by a local New Jersey TV station. Yes, I provided the link to NYC/NBC news and I commended you for catching the watch fraud. Someone mentioned on "The Factor" that much more was going to be revealed within the next few days, so he had little choice but to take the high road. Wasn't it pathetic to watch his contortions as he patted his own back during the press conference? It's a wonder he didn't break an arm. When he wasn't doing that, he was praising the Master Shakedown Artist who he spoke to several times today from England.
To: calvin sun
Good post. This analogy should be shared with Forrester people and RNC. Even a typical voter in NJ might understand this analogy.

Get a bunch of free press for not being allowed to be on the ballot But they are on the ballot. They are choosing to remove themselves from the ballot and then complaining that they aren't on the ballot. What was the whole primary all about if they say that they aren't on the ballot?
