While Rep. Mark Jimenez prepares to barricade himself at his yellow brick abode in Forbes Park (you didnt for one moment think he was holed up in Manilas impoverished District 6, did you?) in an attempt to stop the Department of Justice from forcibly transferring him to a government guesthouse with iron grills, we are once again hearing the Jimenez camp trotting out the usual line that he is paying the price for having been too close to former US President Bill Clinton. But a few weeks ago we had a pleasant dinner in a private home in Makati with someone visiting from the US, who is the longest-serving member of Clintons private staff -- going back to his days as governor of Arkansas and right through to his two-term tenure at the White House. So she, more than most, would be well acquainted with Clintons close friends and associates.
Thus when we mentioned the name of the congressman in the context of him having been a buddy of Clinton, her eyebrows shot heavenwards and her face fixed in smiling censure.
She then went on to tell us that she only saw Jimenez once in the presence of Bill and Hillary, and that was only at a formal reception for a few campaign donors where photo-ops took second place to wine and canapés in the order of business.
And believe us, by nature of her office in the West Wing she would have been aware of who was in and out of the White House during the Clinton tenancy.

Guess where many of the congressmen who have been implying that they will act as the close-in security of Jimenez to prevent him from being arrested were last Friday night?
At the Manila Polo Club attending the birthday dinner of tough as boots Justice Secretary Nani Perez, who is pressing for the immediate issuance of an arrest warrant against Jimenez.
Also at the affair was the probable jailer-in-chief of Jimenez, National Bureau of Investigation director Reynaldo Wycoco who, incidentally, we spotted doing a mean boogie on the dance floor.
Hmmm - Who could that be?
