Needs a special thread because I've quoted the Honolulu Advertiser.

Anyone care to bet that Ms. Mink passed on well before this announcement?

No, I doubt it...they probably sustained her on life support hoping that it would turn around.

Perhaps my timing is bad, but let's remind ourselves who the six lone Congresspersons were who voted FOR paying the Peoples Republic of China $1 million in damages for their idiot fighter pilot who rammed a US recon plane over the S. China Sea 16 months ago:
[Democrats, all]:
Ackerman, Gary L. NY 5th
Clay, Wm. Lacy MO 1st
Hastings, Alcee L. FL 23d
Mink, Patsy T. HI 2d
McDermott, Jim WA 7th
Stark, Fortney Pete CA 13th
The measure was defeated 424 to 6.

Dems love dead voters and now dead candidates are welcome too ... Ever since the widder Carnahan scored.
Dems have no damn life outside of seeking government power just like the good little socialists they are.

I regret that she died as I regret that end for all of us, but she was a life-long RAT and a Hawaiian RAT is a special breed.
The RATs have been in power for nearly fifty years and the graft and corruption have reached unheard-of levels. The State is broke, unemployment is huge, Hawaiians wanting to make a simple living cannot and are leaving or have left in droves (Las Vegas has a large Hawaiian population now), HI is a pure welfare state, and the unions run the RAT Party.
It's past time for a change in every level of government and Republicans can do the job if they can get in power. They will surely help clear those smelly Hawaiian Augean stables.

rest in peace, but if she's a 'woman of color,' what are white women? "Women without color?" "Colorless women?" "Photoreflectively challenged?"

The Republican candidate should win by default after the election is run even if the dead Democrat candidate gets more votes. IMO the DemonRATS decision to keep Mink's name on the ballot means they have forfeited their right to have a candidate in this House race. They chose her, but she died before they could get a replacement. Tough luck.

Akiba said. "They (the family) would tell me if she was unable to fulfill her duty. I also believe Mrs. Mink would drop out if she felt she could not serve."Obviously not.
"She will be up and around; we just can't say when," Manke said. "We just have to be patient."
Now that is just sick.

"I'M NOT QUITE DEAD YET! I'M GETTING BETTER!"

Don't regret the end for all of us. I think it will be our beginning. :)

Republican, Democrat, Independent, whatever...may her soul rest in peace and her family be comforted by the love they shared.

Well, for once the dead Democrat voters will get to vote for one of their own for a change......This is getting to be a trend. At least the GOP's dead guys can still sit up by themselves.

But Neal Milner, a University of Hawai'i political science professor, said he doesn't think voters will be angry. "Sure, it's obviously very difficult to campaign in favor of someone who is obviously not quite able to assume the seat.... It's very awkward."
These people in Hawaii are nuts. "Not quite able to assume the seat"?
Just reading this obituary makes me understand why nobody around here ever talks about taking a Hawaiian vacation anymore. My brother went there 15 years ago and told me back then that the place was a way over-priced, socialist tourist trap. He said he would never go back.

I guess it's true that a 'rat will NEVER give up the reins of power, no matter what the circumstances.
The secrecy really bother me, though. I'm old enough to remember all of those Russian Premiers with "the flu" in the bad years of the Cold War. Silence for a while, then a press release of a minor ailment, then suddenly there was a new Premier and the old one was never seen again.
Is this the way the Democratic Party does business now?
