au revoir mon cher AngeliqueI have the truly sad and unenviable task of reporting the loss of a gentle lamb, and fierce patriot, our own dear girl, Angelique.
Simple words cannot express the profound loss I feel. To say I have lost one of my closest and dearest friends would be to betray my own feelings, I adored this girl. Her warm sweet childlike voice, contrasted with her signature feisty repartee, and unbridled humor made her a one-of-a-kind treasure. Her combative defense of her deeply held convictions, crossed many a sword with the best of her friends including yours truly, and her few if any enemies. She was a model Mother, daughter, sister, friend, patriotic American, Franco-American and staunch defender of the principals of a Free Republic, and above all FreeRepublic itself. Angelique said what she believed, with straight talk, a savvy humor and wit, but at times with a velvet sledgehammer ....tears, that was our darling French pastry.
Pray for our sweet girl, as I will, in hopes that she has found comfort and peace in His waiting arms.
pour toujours, mon cher Angel, with love......... Carlo
May God rest her soul.
I remember siding with MadIvan when the two of them got into it about France vs England. Always fun to watch, she could add zest to any thread, but I didn't know her.
You sound like you are really into global warming. Please buy some Gax-X, and try to refrain from supplying the conservative folks here with your odiferous comments. If the next step is lighting a match, I suppose you are a real flamer!

The rest of us will have to try harder to make America truly the land of the FRee.
Wow...what does one say? I have enjoyed her posts and fiestiness for so long. Its truly a shock. My prayers of course. |
It's good that you didn't find any (Russerts)!! If you look at lowbridge's post, you'll see that they have a lot of hair and bug eyes! They are good for roasting over the coals though. Be careful, they tend to be only half-baked!!
OK! OK! I am not going to do this half-baked! I noticed you had these russerts, er russets, and I have decided to share with you my recipe. I must tell you that ,umm, the latter group, do not know how to spell potato--must be a conservative thing!
FRENCH RUSSERT-POTATO-HEAD-SALAD HOLD THE MAYO!
Ingredients
1/4 cup chicken broth
1/4 cup dry white wine
1/4 cup olive oil
4 scallions, chopped finely, parts of greens included
2 tablespoons Dijon mustard
3 tablespoons white wine vinegar
2 tablespoons drained capers
31/4 pounds of 21/2-inch-diameter red-skinned potatoes
Whisk first 7 ingredients in large bowl to blend. Season dressing to taste with salt and white pepper. (Can be prepared 1 day ahead. Cover and refrigerate.
Cook potatoes in large pot of boiling water, according to lowbridge's instructions*, until just fork tender, about 20 minutes. Drain. Return potatoes to pot. Place pot over low heat until liquid from potatoes evaporates, about 2 minutes. *
How to boil water by lowbridge:
Ingredients:
1 pot water (amount, according to your tastes)
Instructions:
Put water into empty pot.
Put pot of water on top of stove
Er, ah...
Cut warm potatoes into 1/3-inch-thick slices. Add to room temperature dressing, allowing the potatoes to absorb the dressing. Toss gently to coat. Let stand at least 1 hour at room temperature. Toss again and serve.
Presentation Put a Mr. Potato-Head in the center of the salad.
