Standing behind a lectern Thursday, his words and visage relayed nationally, Randy Moss morphed into everything he shuns on the football field: nervous, vulnerable and humble.

The Vikings receiver acknowledged he is struggling to come to grips with a public image he said was "shattered" and nearly impossible to salvage following his arrest Tuesday for a Minneapolis traffic incident. During a rambling, nine-minute address in which he apologized to Michael Jordan, among others, Moss said: "I am human. I am a man. I do take care of my responsibilities and I stand up for my actions.

I don't think his public images is shattered at all - I think it's pretty much what it used to be. That isn't good news if you're Randy Moss.

My image of him was - and still is, after this incident - that he was an immature, racist, woman-abusing, pot-smoking, self-centered jerk.

Randy's just missunderstood. He didn't mean to do anything wrong. He doesn't even think he did anything wrong so please, Vikings, don't trade or cut him.

GO PACK!!!

Worth repeating...

Moss said that, after the incident, he is concerned that "everything I say or everything that's happened to me might get blown out of proportion" and added he is frustrated to have taken a step back after "trying to change for the best" this season.

"My approach, I think it was really going in the right direction," he said. "I'm doing everything on time. I'm being cooperative. . . . I'm trying to do right and trying to be right, but in all honesty, to certain people, I don't do right."

This response is not unlike the same old same old rhetorical spin that is commomly used by those who are more likely to be guilty as suspicioned.

It is really very tiring and predictable.

I agree, we already know what a chowderhead Moss is. I notice he has changed his tone from his previous "I was treated badly in jail, boo hoo" tack. That's probably because his coaching staff took him aside and ripped him a new you-know-what. News flash, Randy: if you don't like the treatment that jail gives you, don't do stupid things to wind up there.

I'd like to see Randy spend two months in a Turkish prison. Then at least he would be able to tell us a believable sob story.

So, he apologized for something he still says he's not apologizing for.

This must make sense to him, but it doesn't to me.

Good article from ESPN's Page 2 on this whole deal. Sums up my thoughts pretty well.

I say good for Randy.
Honorable thoughts. Quit gloating, all.
Remember the posts when the story broke?
Most were wrong then, as well.

My thoughts exactly...nothing less appealing than a multimillionaire punk who'll get through life without ever gaining a speck of wisdom, humility or conscience.

I was gonna respond to this seemingly incoherent comment with some sort of chastising remark, but I see from a forum search that your just a troll.

Randy Moss is a choir boy, compared to this Public Enemy #1. After all, Jeremy Shockey said something that might be perceived to be anti-homosexual. Now that's what I call a major crime!

New York Giants rookie Jeremy Shockey apologized for comments about gays made two weeks ago during an appearance on Howard Stern's radio show. During the Sept. 10 interview, Stern asked Shockey if he thought there were any gay players in the NFL.

"I don't know," Shockey said. "I don't like to think about that. I hope not."

The star tight end also was asked if he had any gay teammates at the University of Miami. "No. I mean, if I knew there was a gay guy on my college football team, I probably wouldn't, you know, stand for it. You know, I think, you know, they're going to be in the shower with us and stuff, so I don't think that's gonna work."

On Thursday, Shockey apologized for his comments, saying he was trying to be funny and it wasn't his intention to offend anyone.

This man is the epitomy of "THUG"! The fact he was not charged with felony assault on an officer is deplorable, and the fact his team did not release him, or at the very least suspend him pending trial is inexcusable.

Good article. Randy Moss will eventually completely self-destruct, probably when he wraps his Lexus around a telephone pole after a night of heavy drinking and drugs. Hopefully he won't take anybody else with him. I think this will happen after retirement when he can drink and smoke grass full-time.

Right on, great "Airplane" reference! I remember when he asked the kid, "Do you like to hang around a gymnasium?" Or when he asked the kid, "So, Bobby, do you like movies about gladiators?"

you don't cross a self-absorbed, do-rag-wearing millionaire athlete in a Lexus with a blunt in the ashtray. I mean, really, have we learned nothing from Allen Iverson?

LOL Perfect.

Moss is a poster boy for everything that's wrong with professional sports.
