Florida Democrats Unite Behind Jeb Bush
On Thursday, September 26th, the "Democrats for Jeb" Steering Committee, a gathering of fifty two present and past Democrat officeholders, met in Miami Beach to publicly announce their support of Florida Governor Jeb Bush and as they stated, "do what it takes to ensure Jeb's reelection.
This group included such notable political leaders as Senator Ron Silver, Miami Beach Mayor David Dermer, Fort Lauderdale Mayor Jim Naugle and Tampa Mayor Dick Greco.
Among the many ringing endorsements was one from Ft. Lauderdale Mayor Jim Naugle, who said, "I am a proud lifetime Democrat, representing one of the most Democratic regions of our state, but I am also 100 percent behind Jeb Bush".
Former Speaker of the House James Harold Thompson stated, "Some things are more important than simple party label I am proud of our Governor, I am proud to support him and I hope all of my fellow Democrats across Florida will do the same".
Looks like these leading Democrats know a good man when they see one, and are not afraid to step across party lines and put the interests of the people of Florida ahead of partisan concerns. Bravo for them!
