BACK DOOR GUN BAN ON THE HORIZON
NRA-ILA ^ | 9/18/2002 | NRA Institute for Legislative Action

To all NJ Freepers:

On Monday, September 30, your State Senator will vote on an alarming "Gun Ban" bill. This bill, sponsored by Senator Dick Codey, is being masqueraded as a "childproof" handgun bill. As currently written, S. 890 would set in motion the ultimate ban on the sale of all new "non-personalized" models of handguns in New Jersey, after just one manufacturer delivers a single "personalized" handgun to any subsequently pulled off the market as unsafe, or for any other reason. Simply put, S.890 would ALL current models of handguns in New Jersey.

The Senate has debated this issue before and are aware that so-called "smart" or "personalized" handgun technology does not exist. Amazingly, police have been exempt from these mandates because of documented concerns aboutn reliability and safety. If "smart" gun technology is so smart, why would the one occupation, law enforcement, who carry guns regularly be exempt from using it?

NRA-ILA and the Association of NJ Rifle and Pistol Clubs urge you to contact yor State Senator, Raymond Lesniak, at (908) 624-0880 or go to www.NRAILA.org and on the "Write Your Reps" feature and send your Senator an e-mail urging them to oppose S.890.

As a matter of interest, the Wisconsin Attorney General (Doyle--a Democrat) proposed legislation which would effectively outlaw AMMO--but not guns.

The legislation was quietly buried. Even the AG tried to get out of the fix. 3 million deer-hunters would NOT like this.

Thank God they haven't figured out this ploy, yet, in Wisconsin.

Sure Texas man. I'm not making this stuff up. You can enjoy your full CCW priveledges, while we have to get state permission to obtain a new handgun.

Sorry if this is re-post, but here goes: Anyone have an update on this NJ bill? I can't find out how the voting went on 9/30 on this thing.

It was exactly the gun ban talk in Congress in '94 that led to the Republican takeover. We don't intend to allow gun ban legislation to do much besides kick Leftist politicians out of office.
