Unknown assailants attacked a house in Barel in the Afghan province of Paktia, inflicting a heavy number of losses.

The house is used by American forces as a camp, known locally as Macha Dad Khan’. The attack was launched from nearby mountains and lasted two hours.

In response US warplanes bombed the area and, the whole area was surrounded by American and coalition forces, However the attackers managed to flee safely.

Taliban News reports that two American troops have been killed in the Nakayee Village of Khost Province whilst attempting to forcefully search a house.

On Saturday evening, American troops were conducting house-to-house search operations in the villages of Khost Province, when two of them arrived at a particular house. There was only a veiled Muslim woman in the house, and no men present, so she refused permission for the Americans to enter.

Moments later, the two Americans barged into the house, but the woman was waiting for them with a loaded Kalashnikov assault rifle and she shot them both dead instantly, before fleeing the house and leaving the bodies of the two Americans where they were killed.

A few hours later, over 50 American troops arrived in Nakayee, demanding the villagers to hand over the woman, but the tribesmen refused and a stand-off is continuing.

On Sunday morning, four missiles were fired at Khost's old airport. One of these missiles hit a parked American military vehicle located just outside the airport perimeter, which was instantly destroyed, together with another vehicle next to it. No loss of life was reported in this incident.

Similar attacks were also launched at Khost Airport last Friday morning, using rockets, small weapons and machine guns. According to a military spokesman, 107mm rockets were used in the attack, after which coalition troops retaliated but were unable to harm the attackers.
