Torricelli Sabotages Own Campaign

Sen. Robert Torricelli, corrupt even by the low standards set by New Jersey Democrats, is ruining his own re-election campaign.

In an item today headlined "Let's go to the videotape," United Press International notes that GOP challenger Doug Forrester is making good use of footage from a recent debate. The ad shows Torricelli saying: "And the question for you is, who do you believe? Who's telling you the truth on these issues?"

As the audience laughs, the picture freezes, showing Torricelli open-mouthed while an announcer intones, "Reprimanded for official misconduct, Sen. Torricelli at least has the question right."

A new poll conducted jointly for WABC-TV in New York and KYW-TV in Philadelphia shows Forrester with 52 percent and only 38 percent for Torricelli, "widely regarded as the most vulnerable Democrat seeking re-election this fall," according to UPI.

Sounds like a wonderful ad. R's need to continually hammer on the scum that the Torch is. Everyone in NJ must be told that Torrcelli has no moral authority on anything.

I think that the RNC ought to hire whomever is in charge of Forrester's campaign. This person has a pair, unlike the RNC - which doesn't have a pair between all of the girly-men there.

News reports said that the audience laughter when Torricelli made the remark was evenly divided between Forrester and Tori supporters.

No wonder the Pubbies are running the ad. They will probably get the Dem votes the need with it.

Good news for you -- the guy running Forrester's campaign, Bill Pascoe, was ALREADY at the RNC in a previous life. In the 2000 election cycle, he was the RNC Press Secretary. He came to New Jersey in the immediate aftermath of the 2000 elections to manage Bret Schundler's campaign for Governor.
