A group that helped pull the plug on explicit adult movies at three Cincinnati-area hotels met Monday in Washington, D.C., with 14 other grassroots organizations in hopes of X-ing out such entertainment at lodgings nationwide.

"We're going to put on a full-court press ... to educate people that hotels are distributing hard-core pornography," says Phil Burress, president of the Cincinnati-based Citizens for Community Values, one of the groups in the coalition that he says represents at least 20 million families and meets regularly.

Save me government! SAVE ME! I can't think for myself and I want to force my values and beliefs down other peoples' throats at the point of a gun! Only government can help me in this endeavour! OH SAVE ME GOVERNMENT!

See what happens when good people exercise their rights, instead of being afraid of a bunch of perverts and sociopaths. I guess having an abundance of child molesters is waking up the sheeple. Very good sign.

I can hear the liberals screaming free speech. Is it free speech when I get an unsolicited e-mail from some demon possessed pervert asking me to come to their animal sex site. Very disturbing.

"to educate people that hotels are distributing hard-core pornography,""

Huh, they are not *distributing* it unless you are *buying* it, so just zip up and put your credit card away.

The pro-family groups say kids can access many hotel skin flicks at the click of a button.

Of course, these groups have to parent for me, as opposed to allowing me to parent my own kids...

Leave the hotels alone - there are safeguards in place to prevent "accidental" exposure. Parents have to be responsible enough to handle their children as well. It's not anyone else's place to do it for me...

What are their kids doing alone in a hotel room?

It is none of anyone's damn business what someone wants to watch. And it especially damn well ain't that liberty grabbing John Ashcroft's business.

And, regarding: "Is it free speech when I get an unsolicited e-mail from some demon possessed pervert asking me to come to their animal sex site.. These mass email spammings are targeted like any other marketing at those likely to buy. How do you think you got on this email list?

I think that this is a very good idea. I've spoken to a number of hotel desk workers and they complain of guests who stay a few nights, then somehow have charges for various pornographic pay-per-view movies added to their bill. The hotel is obviously putting them on for no reason because the guests swear up and down that they didn't watch any movies, and the customer is always right. Without the availability of these porn movies, the hotel won't be able to add on charges for movies that the customers never watched.

Actually, such lists are typically created by scumbags (all spammers are scum by definition, regardless of the nature of their product) harvesting e-mail addresses from any source they can find (including making things up because they *might* be a valid e-mail address). E-mail spamming is not free speech because it is imposed upon the recipient at their expense and against their will. It's like someone forcing you to purchase and view a pornographic movie, unlike the current situation where the movies are available but no one is forced to purchase or watch them.

Absolutely ridiculous. If parents are worried that their kids will watch porn at a hotel room KEEP AN EYE ON YOUR CHILDREN!!!!!! I also know, from traveling with my 15 year old step-son, you can block the ability to order any pay-per-view either directly from the television remote, or with a quick call to the front desk.

If an adult wants to watch this type of movie, it's hardly the governments or anyone elses business as long as the actors are of age and consenting to make the movie (which the majority of them do).

Somehow I ended up on a list for 3-4 dating services (I've been married 10 years) and some of the sex sites. I don't fit the profile either but I still get them. I just block the e-mail address with Outlook and never have to worry about them anymore.

Nah. It's any email address they can find. There is no incremental cost to spamming as many email addresses as possible. Quite different that when you have to pay postage for each ad sent -- then you are a bit more selective.

Thanks...for the reminder....I'll use my filters to TRASH them. Wish I could figure out how to BLOCK them (I use Eudora.)

That's the only answer possible. True there is virtually no incremental cost to spam another email address. I have an AOL account that I maybe check every 3 months or so. Everytime I do I find the same thing. I guess they just go searching for screen names and just add 'em to the database.

Why is what privately run hotels stock for movies in hotels any of your business? Who runs the hotel the owners or the state?

While they're at it, why not a ban on actual fornication in hotels? You watch the TV and it watches you.

If they are alone, hotels usually have a blocking feature parents can choose for adult films. This just a group trying to legislate morality in the name of children. I'd be more worried about my kids raiding the mini bar for snacks.

Ashcroft supports assertive enforcement of obscenity laws and the department is interested in national distribution of adult obscenity.

Poor choice of words. Typical McPaper.

Liberals and libertarians both are screaming free speech. But, the Founders certainly would not have allowed pornography, let alone in hotels.
