Henson draws fire for comment (democrat calls MD republican candidate for governor a "Nazi")
The Baltimore Sun ^ | September 21, 2002 | By David Nitkin and Howard Libit

Julius Henson, the combative Baltimore political operative tapped this week to generate votes for Kathleen Kennedy Townsend and other Democrats, was abruptly dropped last night after calling Republican Robert L. Ehrlich Jr. a Nazi in an interview with a newspaper reporter yesterday.

Speaking to a Washington Post journalist earlier in the day, Henson said: "Bobby Ehrlich is a Nazi. His record is horrible, atrocious. ... He should be running in Germany in 1942, not Maryland in 2002," according to a story published on the newspaper's Web site last night.

He said the Republican nominee for governor was opposed to blacks, schools and old people.

The lieutenant governor's campaign promptly denounced the comments, and later said they were breaking off negotiations to hire Henson to work on a coordinated state Democratic campaign as of last night.

DemonCraps reach new lows.

Not even close. And they still have a lot of time to go even lower.

Henson is the guy who smeared Ellen Sauerbrey with the same tactics and brought in corrupt democrat (I know, it's redundant) Governor Glendenning. Basically, democrats have to run by stirring up black racial fears and paranoia, because they need 95% of the black vote to be competitive. There once was a time when "liberals" were supposed to be against that sort of hateful thing.

Not the best choice of names to be calling anyone this week -- especially after the German name calling incident earlier this week.

Democrats on one hand profess tolerance and diversity, but actions show otherwise.

Democrats are vicious fear-mongers and name-callers.

They should be defeated at every opportunity!

Ershine Bowles, running for Senate in North Carolina, also brought in a "scorched-earth" specialist from Florida. The first ad he prepared, a false attack on Dole about Social Security, was withdrawn after the Raleigh Observer, not exactly a Republican-oriented rag, condemned it as dishonest.

Bowles' "Donald Segretti" is, however, still on payroll here, unlike the quick dismissal of Townsend's "Segretti." But there are many more where those came from. Lies and scare tactics, scare tactics and lies. We are going to see a lot of that around the country as Democrats in trouble pull out all the stops to win.

Maybe, just maybe, some of the press (not including the New York Times, of course) have become sufficiently disgusted with such tactics as to "out" such operatives and denounce their ads. We shall see.

"ALL democrats call ALL Republicans nazis. Its just some are stupid enough to say it in print and in public."

. . . These 'nazi' slanders are getting old; and it is time that Repubs spell out plain and simple, who in fact, is nazi-like in their tactics and smears and idiology as well: . . .Nazi - ie National-Socialist. . .these DemocRATS are what they speak.

. . .the reality is that Dems know they are lying; they also know that 'slander' works; and it is their favortie MO. . .

It's interesting that it's the Dem political operatives who are the most strident with the smears. I believe it's because they see what the internal polls are telling them, which is that their candidates are in deep, deep trouble.

Am I the only one beginning to sense GOP victories in Dem strongholds (Simon in CA, Ehrlich in MD, maybe the Senate seats in SD and IA)?
