California: Governor Davis is offered $10,000 by radio station to debate Bill Simon
KFI AM640, Los Angeles, John and Ken Show

Just heard John and Ken on KFI AM640 in Los Angeles offer $10,000 as an inducement to Governor Davis to get him to come on the air and debate Bill Simon. Having been turned down repeatedly by Davis in earlier requests, they've decided that the more direct and time-tested method of buying his attention is in order.
Terms:
- 2 hour length
- Must be done before the election (they're not leaving any outs for Davis to weasel out yet still collect the dough)
- Moderators must be John and Ken
- No participants other than Davis and Simon
First question: "How come since your real first name is 'Joseph', you go by your middle name Gray?

They're now calling him "Joe" Davis.
Apparently his legal name is Joseph Gray Davis
To: eureka!
They have probably the largest audience in the drive-time period in Los Angeles. Certainly in the hundreds of thousands.

Simon is now on-air with them matching the offer! He says he'll give the money to a charity of Davis' choice. Funny stuff where your opponent has to bribe you to get you to debate.

KFI is the local power station used for Emergency Response messages. Rush Limbaugh airs on that station. It can be heard from close to Santa Barbara all the way down to close to San Diego. Inland it can be heard as far as San Bernardino. I'd say about 12 to 17 million people can listen in if they wish. They are probably one of the top rated programs in their time slot.

Simon just changed his offer - He will double it to
$20,000! Now it's up to $30,000.00.
I'll chip in a little - how about FReepers...LOL

Simon says the first thing he'll do in Sacramento is put in a full day. Second is to take down the toll gate in front of the governor's office.

Personal money or a campaign contribution?

Simon has offered $20k. One of the hosts says that if Davis has lied to you about his name, what else has he lied about? Now touching on Mercury News article that addresses the issue of Davis people putting the make on contacts for campaign bucks.

The $10K offered by John and Ken is 'no strings attached'. Presumably Davis could pocket it if he wanted. Maybe he could term it a 'personal appearance fee'.

I'll bet his people suggest a debate might not be a bad idea after all. These two are raking him over the coals. Love it!
