ID YOU NOTICE that Switzerland finally joined the United Nations? Its square flag is now flying alongside the symbols of 189 other nations.
I'm told that it took terrorism to dislodge the country of chocolate and watches from its Alps-encased commitment to neutrality. But when I got the news, forgive me, I had a single irreverent thought: Well, now that Switzerland's joined the UN, maybe we should too.

"forgot the puke alert"No need. "Ellen Goodman" was clue enough. Nothing more vapid than liberal lightweights like her opining on such grave matters. She should stick to feminist/teen issues, though they still seem to be a challenge for her...

"Yes, I know. America was the virtual midwife of this body back in 1945." The original UN charter was written by Alger Hiss, the convicted Communist in the Roosevelt administration.

Don't worry about this, the US has joined the UN (unforunately), and the US and the UN are tight-nit. All these talks of unilateralist or multilateralist is a nice show. In the end, I'm thinking that the UN will go along with the US.

surely there were those who recall last spring when his administration nullified our country's signature on the treaty establishing an International Criminal Court. I'm not the brightest bulb in the pack, but just a minute here, I don't think Clinton signed off on the ICC. He supported it at first and backed away. It never reached the Senate Floor. And I sure as H## don't care if it was signed unanymously. No one touches our soldiers OR our citizens at home but the U S of A. Our signiture will be in bullets.

I imagine she wants to ban land mines and make guns illegal as well. Oh, let's not forget that they think Mother's Day is a crime against humanity.

Pure, completely adulterated hogwash. Exactly what one would expect from Ellen. Barf!

God forbid that this nation has allegiance to the UN.
Ellen Goodman lives in a parallel universe where evil is good and good is evil. We note that whereas we, in this universe, pick our noses, she packs stuff in!

we still owe the UN dues Liberals who support social security, medicare and numerous other government programs should outraged at the amount of money that America spends on the UN: in the last decade more than $6 billion on peacekeeping alone.
Despite this massive expenditure, the UN still claims the US owes more than $1 billion.
The UN is a black hole for American taxpayer dollars that could be put to work in the service of causes across the political spectrum here at home.

She's not blind, Ellen Goodman is simply and incurably stupid. In our wish to be civil we sometimes forget that some people are born so stupid education is wasted on them. Ellen Goodman is a pretty good measure of stupidity.
When Boston is a radioactive cloud, She and her ilk will be the chorus asking why Bush didn't do something to protect America.

Actually, many universities warp minds. It prohibits rational thinking. Thus, that is why individuals graduating with humanities degrees often have the inability to think logically.

ID YOU NOTICE that Switzerland finally joined the United Nations? Its square flag is now flying alongside the symbols of 189 other nations. Add 3 soldiers to UN forces.

did someone mutter that we still owe the UN dues?Goodman's buddy Slick Willie vetoed the payment of back dues on 21 October 1998. His reason: because it included an amendment sponsored by Representative Chris Smith, Republican of New Jersey, that would have barred Federal spending for international family-planning organizations that lobby foreign governments to change their abortion policies. source Goodman and Dowd must have been swapping spit on that day and missed their hero in action
