Bush Senior's Plan to Oust Saddam Was Flawless

The head of nazi propaganda once said, "Repeat a lie loudly enough and often enough and people will begin to believe it." Here is a great example of how the liberal media applies that nazi propaganda trick: the lie that Bush Senior is to blame for the Iraq mess.
I fell into that trap, myself. I owe the Bush Senior Team a big apology. I woke up at midnight, unable to go back to sleep, thinking of how I had wronged them, it hit me so hard. Many other conservatives owe the Bush Senior team an apology as well. Their plan to oust Saddam had worked perfectly and according to plan.
There is a 60 Minutes report that exposes how the Kurds had almost defeated Saddam's army. All they needed was US Air Support. But Clinton let them down. It was Clinton's Bay of Pigs. He left them to fight without air support, knowing full well that they would lose without it. Demoralized and betrayed, the Kurds never tried again.
The Bush Senior Team had counted on a Kurdish revolt as part of their plan. The only element of that plan they didn't consider was the inconcievable notion that the President would be assinine enough to betray the Kurds.
Iraq is yet another of Clinton's many legacies. Clinton is the only man in the free world to blame for Saddam's survival all these years. My hat is finally off to the Bush Senior Team. Their plan was brilliant, and flawless.

There is a 60 Minutes report that exposes how the Kurds had almost defeated Saddam's army. When did this air? Thanks in advance.

I've argued this here many times, 41 was operating on a U.N. resolution and it only mission was to liberate Kuwait. 41's background in the CIA made it easy for him to know that there is more than one way to skin a cat. It was 1993 when the Kurds made their move Clinton ignored them and they were hammered by Saddam's forces

You are wrong. The Bush people made the fundamental mistake of leaving Hitler in power. It was dumb, dumb, dumb. I opposed the Gulf War, but I also opposed leaving Hitler in power. That's what the Bush Administration convinced the American People, what Saddam was.
They then made the situation even worse. The called for the Marsh Arabs to rise up against Saddam. They did. Then they didn't support them. The Bushies cynically left those people to get slaughtered by Saddam's helicopter gunships. This was sick and disgusting.
Sleep easy, you didn't insult Bush 41 at all.

20/20 hindsight. Bush was right to leave Sadam where he was. Sadam never fired a chemical weapon and the Kurds would have taken him out anyway. Bush set up support for them. Clinton betrayed them. Clinton screwed up cause all Clinton cared about was Politics and Pussy. Neither were served by helping the Kurds. Liberals hate Kurds even more than Sadam.
To: Kermit
No, you just insulted about 50,000 people on FR that know better.
There was never, ever any plan or suggestion by Bush I to take Saddam out.
The whole Gulf War was only to get Saddam out of kuwait and to keep the oil flowing !
To: MJY1288
In my lifetime, the GREATEST feat of diplomacy has to be how 41 got most of the world to help kick SADDAMMNN out of KUWAIT. Nobody was ever done anything like that, ever. Why didn`t he "get" Sadammnn? Because he and the rest of the world thought the Iraqi people would do the job. If 41 had not be beaten by Bubba in 92, Saddammn would be toast

He'll get no apology from me. His beloved NWO restrained him and I'm supposed to applaud? Not in this life.

I coudn't agree more, 41 would of done all he could to back the kurds, WITH OR WITHOUT U.N. support or Congressional support. The difference is the line Dubya was talking about earlier tonight. The line between Good and Evil. A distinction X42 knows nothing about

Bush The Elder did his thing. Saddam is still here.

I'd guess that the prospect of Iranian gains in the aftermath of Desert Storm was a big factor in not getting rid of Saddam.

Bush betrayed the Marsh (Shi'a) Arabs in the South. That's the truth, you can't push that off onto Clinton. The fundamental mistake was to leave Saddam in power. They convinced America that Saddam was Hitler. Would you leave Hitler in power after pushing him out of France? They could've supported the uprising, they didn't.

How did I possibly insult 50,000 FReepers? Nonsense!
Again, I remember vividly how the Bush41 administration in the buildup to Desert Storm equated Saddam with Hitler. You don't leave Hitler in power! And Bush41 did want to remove Saddam, but he wanted to leave it up to an uprising. What'e the title of this thread? "Back to Bush Senior's Plan to Oust Saddam was Flawless" This of course is total nonsense, because Saddam is still in power.

Saw it, own the DVD. It's a good movie and explicitly covers the betrayal of the Marsh Arabs before anybody outside of Little Rock had heard of Bill Clinton.

Bush gave his word to the Gulf States that he was only going to kick Iraq out of Kuwait *not* remove him from power. You want that he should go back on his word and become a liar after the order of Clinton?

Good post. Thanks. I wish that the Bush family would brag about their accomplishments once in a while. Clinton and the Dems. are constantly taking credit for things they never did...simply because they were there, or made a pretty speech -
that equals actual planning, risk and effort according to the Dems...and some on this website.
Bush also told Saddam Hussein that if he dared use chem or bio weapons on Israel during the Gulf War, we'd use all force at our disposal...and every single member of the coalition knew Bush 41 meant what he said. They know his son keeps his word as well.
To: Ragtime Cowgirl
I've heard of quite a few people who give Bush 41 a lot of credit for not going further at the time; even though I'm sure a lot of them wished he could've.
I do remember around the election that there was a lot of respect among some of the Saudi leaders, because he kept his promises to them.

He made a stupid agreement to people, who contributed nothing to the victory. It's a fundamental strategic rule, that you don't leave your enemy in power. It's dumb.
