The evening started innocently enough for Brian Whitman, Sunday evening talk show host on KABC in Los Angeles.
He had on his show four minor candidates running for governor of California. Three were on the phone and the fourth, Libertarian candidate Gary Copeland, was in studio.
The conversation eventually turned to illegal immigration. Copeland did not like Whitman's position and called him a racist. Although Whitman kept trying to answer, Copeland kept talking over him and would not let him speak.
Just as Whitman puts callers in "timeout" on his show when they won't let him have his say, he told the engineer to cut off Copeland's microphone. Copeland became incensed and started packing his things to leave the studio.
Then, in great FReeper tradition, Whitman told Copeland not to let the door hit his ass on the way out. He also called Copeland a lunatic.
Then the rain came. Copeland walked over to Whitman and spit in his face. Whitman couldn't believe it. Two others on the KABC staff couldn't believe it.
Whitman had the station call the police and is considering filing assault charges.
Poor Copeland. He may no longer be the Libertarian candidate for governor. An official high ranking representative of the party called in to Whitman and told him that Copeland would be receiving no more backing and they were going to see what they could do to take him off the ballot.
Now that was classic talk radio. The unbelievable happened. A candidate for governor actually showed himself to be a bigger jackass than Gray Davis. Davis has spit on the law but never on Whitman, at least not yet. Brian, get him in studio.
Their stand on open boarders would only work if the Feds weren't in the habit of giving a free ride to every puddle-jumper who can make it across the boarder. This has been clearly stated a number of times. You just can't seem to get past the idea can you? All you see is "open boarders", and it pretty much shuts down any thought on how it would work.
As for military defense. Don't be absurd. If we are attacked, then we have every right to fight back. We don't, however, have a right to attack another country. Iraq has attacked us. Afghanistan has attacked us. Hell, the case could be made that China and Britain have both attacked us (spy plane and the UK's mechanations in the UN).
Ask yourself, would 9-11 have happened if the Libertarians view of the Second Amendment been the norm?
You are right, your party's symbol has not spit in anyone's face yet. He advocates the return of slavery instead. You must be very proud of him as a typical Republican.
I'm sorry, but I must have missed that article in the New York Times. Could you please cite where anyone in the Republican Party has advocated a return of slavery?
Boy, that's what happens when you count on FreeRepublic and FoxNews for your news, I guess ... (sarcasm/off)
Yet there are Libertarians on FR those who praise that egomanical fool.
Tommy, I have to think you're doing this on purpose, to make the LP look bad. Even (real) libertarians aren't so aggressively childish as you're being.
LOL
As if lying down with Spitting Libertarian Camels is any more fun or involves any less fleas. LOL! Watch the temper, there, Tom. You're fixin' to pop a blood vessel!
Letting people use their saliva as they think fit is the only sane policy.
Keep government out of spitting!! (But not vice versa).
Their 1998 candidate for Governor of California has fled to Canada after a couple of drug convictions.
Well, if he picked the right host.....
So now defense of the Second Amendment is foolish. Can I qoute you on that? What, exactly, did Rick do that was so bad? Under the Constitution of the United States, he has an ennumerated Rights to bear arms. Doing so, against the wishes of the petty tyrants in Denver, got him arrested. Do we, or do we not have a Right to Keep and Bear arms?
Ron Paul is a Republican.
Really? He doesn't sound like any other Republican. Or do you mean Dr. Pauls membership in the RLC who are trying to inject libertarian principles back into the Republican party?
When libertarians act like Copeland or Stanley, any stand they take granted the same respect as those put forth by Lyndon LaRouche. By fielding slates of fools, the LP probably does far more harm than good.
I'll agree that people like Copeland have no place in our system. Then again, neither do McCain, Kennedy, Boxer, Feinstein, Blagojovich (or however the hell you spell that guys name), Reno, ect....
Fielding slates of fools? So Qualye and Dole was what? Good party management? Jumpin' Jim Jeffords?
You are not only childish, but a hypocrite as well.
Yep, advocating for personal responsibility and freedom is just such an incredibly childish thing to do. Maybe I should just start pushing for a Nanny State government to take care of me like you are. That would be so much more mature.
Spitting on someone is f*cking gross. If you're pissed at someone, be a man and swat him him the face. Don't spit like a little girl.
