On Wednesday, one year will have passed since the horrific attack on New York and Washington, D.C. September 11, 2002 represents a unique watershed date for the American Spirit. Network television will provide wall-to-wall coverage, replaying the events of the day the towers fell. Does it help us heal to relive that day? I for one shall never forget it. But is it better to reflect for a moment and continue to live, or should we become consumed by the emotional assault that the media has prepared for us? Does the emotion of the day serve a higher purpose, or is it simply empathy? The stage provides President Bush with a tremendous opportunity to remind us what we are fighting for, but will that message be lost in the emotion and network editing?
I pose these questions (and others not listed) to help the Free Republic community come together and discuss what 9/11 means now, and what it will mean in the future.
What will you do on 9/11/02?

What will I do on 9/11/02? I will reflect on the events of 9/11, say a prayer for those of us who are living and for those who lost their lives, strengthen my resolve for the war on terror, knowing that my children's future is on the line, and then I will continue to live my life in the freedom too many take for granted.
God bless America!

I work in the Airline industry as a partner to American Airlines. I have taken the day off to go to a memorial service for the employees who were killed, and then toggle between Fox and FR to remember 9/11 with people of my own kind.

I will NOT watch TV. I don't NEED to be reminded of that which has been indelibly etched in my memory. Not many days go by that I don't think about that fateful day. My prayers will be with the victims and their families and of course our brave men and women in harms ways. NEVER FORGET!

I hear you. I don't think a day has gone by that I don't think about what happened or what the future holds because of 9/11.

I will go to work and pay attention to my job all day. I will be too busy to tend to outside activities during the work day. Then, I'll come home and watch news footage reruns of a year ago, and get pissed off all over again.

I'll also listen to Toby Keith's "Courtesy of the Red, White and Blue." That song kicks a$$!

My husbands birthday. Two weeks ago, he had a heart attack. He will be fine but it has been a lovely year. (/sarcasm)

I'm going to fly my beloved country's flag.

Generally conduct myself in a state of jingoistic pride and profound gratitude that I'm an American.
To: farmfriend
I'll keep you and your husband in my prayers.
To: X-Servative
I will say a silent prayer....then I will get on with my life. I sure won't be watching the networks scramble for ratings by rehashing this tragedy!
