Pilgrim flock to 'divine potato'

Pilgrims are flocking to a house in Bombay where they believe that Elephant headed Hindu Lord Ganesha has appeared in the shape of a potato.

The potato is said to be shaped like the Lord Ganesha and people are offering money and gifts to seek the blessing of the "divine vegetable".

The vegetable was grown in Uttar Pradesh and bought by Najmuddin Alibhai Jessani, a fruit and vegetable exporter.

It was about to be eaten by the family, when Mr Jessani's sister-in-law noticed the resemblance to Lord Ganesha. The potato's fame spread after it was featured in local newspapers.

The main living room of the family home has been turned into a shrine to the potato.

Around 60 or 70 people a day are visiting the shrine to leave gifts of marigolds and money. It's understood that the money will be given to a religious charity.

The "new world order" elites are always telling us that all religions are equal. The result is what you read above. Did you ever imagine Mr. Potato Head as some sort of deity? Neither did I.

While I support the legal right of all to worship whom or what they like, I will never accept the notion that all religions are equal.

Christianity is the only true faith. There is no other way to God, other than Jesus Christ. How many freepers are able to say that without concerning themselves with "sensitivity" or political correctness?

Haven't some people seen images in Jesus in all sorts of things (I seem to remember a story where the face of Jesus appeared in a taco somewhere in Mexico once with pilgrims flocking to see it!).

Isn't this a common phenomenon? People see their deity in stones and other objects all the time. The mind if a very powerful instrument.

The "new world order" elites are always telling us that all religions are equal.

I've often wondered if this was a way to elevate other religions or to undercut Christianity, or to do both simultaneously. If they're all equal, then they're all cults.

I once found a potato that didn't look like Patrick Leahy. Go figure them odds.

Uh oh! You get an "F" on that post. Barnum never said that. But you can raise your grade if you tell us who actually did.

If you click on the external link, you will see the picture of the holy potato. My computer skills are rather poor, and I was unable to post the picture of the potato.

I say it all the time.

The writer of the article is mistaken, by the way: potatoes are tubers, not vegetables.

HOMER: Hey, Ganeesha. Wanna peanut?
APU: Please do not offer my god a peanut.

"Pilgrims are flocking to a house in Bombay where they believe that Elephant headed Hindu Lord Ganesha has appeared in the shape of a potato."

So what, I found a potato that was in the bottom of my vegetable bin for a couple of months. Looks just like Joe Lieberman.

"Around 60 or 70 people a day are visiting the shrine to leave gifts of marigolds and money. It's understood that the money will be given to a religious charity."

Feel free to drop by and worship my potato anytime and leave gifts. It should be understood that any marigolds will be donated to charity.

Bill Clinton?

Nope. I think he said "a suckers born every second". The only other Clinton quote I can think of is: "darling, blow is just a figure of speech...".
