More cultural drivel from North Carolina's "enlightened academia".

Without our nations childern being able to express there heritage what are they being made to learn express?

God forbit state's rights get an airing. I think this was probably a good idea. If the kids had a true exposure to states rights it might upset the balance of power in this nation. DC would go after the police state even quicker our of desparation.

Slanderous.

Let's put it this way: there's a method to their madness.

I guess something had to give, in lieu of the current wave of "Embrace Islam" sweeping the schools.

She says her remarks about the UDC being connected to the Klan are based on information given her by a parent of the essay-winning student. She declined to disclose the nature of that information or to reveal the parents' name. She said she would meet with UDC leaders before deciding about future essay contests. In other words, she opened her fat mouth, said something ignorant, and is trying to backtrack. Wonder what the good principal thinks of the 69 black slaveowners before and during the War of Southern Independence in this state? Oh, I'm sorry they couldn't exist under her uneducated views of the Confederacy. This nation was just full of plantations, left and right. < /sarcasm>
Don't have children yet but public school teachers would run if they saw me coming

As a Southerner, I can tell you some people in this region cling to the past. I don't personally know that many, and they are truly small in number. Most Southerners, while proud of their regional heritage, are also proud to be Americans. There are very few, like the hicks in the "League of the South," who live in the rear-view mirror. I laugh at most of these romantics, who somehow think that an independent South would be a magical answer to many problems. I wish they would review in detail what happened the last time Southerners, en masse, fell for that scheme. We are only now getting over what that misguided campaign cost the South. LOL, even now, some non-Southerners think that most of us lack indoor plumbing, don't use cutlery, and dress like Jethro and Uncle Jed. Another crack at separation? Yeah, right! Let's learn the exact same painful lesson, all over again.....

Why thank you!! As a proud member of the Southern Party, Sons of Confederate Veterans, and the League of the South, it's nice to know you consider people like me a hick. BTW son, Delta's ready when you are!!

Has everyone involved with education in North Carolina gone stark-raving mad? Somebody needs to get the situation straightened out.

it's nice they can say the organisation is like the klan, but then not back it up. Scumbags.
To: billbears
good for you, being a member of those groups you mentioned; There's nothing wrong with that. The school professionals are insane to throw away an essay contest about history that some kids were excited over. How they so quickly claimed this group was KKK, it shows their bigotry really. It is very sad those types of schools are so common.

She says Botzis sent a copy of the letter to the newspaper so the News & Record would know not to publish any UDC press releases with names of Aycock students.Do I have this right? A lowly junior high school history teacher can tell a local newspaper what they can't print? And in an article about the incident, the paper never mentions the 1st Amendment? Is the newspaper cowed, or what?
It's a shame this all-powerful woman wasn't on our side concerning the UNC-Koran debate.
To: BossyRoofer
the will of the overmind of course... the powerful presence of any modern day stalin that walks along and says "hey, these people are now completely brainwashed, im going to own them now"
To: janeliberty
As for the statement in the letter that all Aycock students are barred from UDC competition, Grier said decisions about what contests a school enters are left to the school's leadership.
so wait.... the kids cant enter into something just because they go to the school?
Asked what about the UDC's philosophy Aycock School finds offensive, Harrelson said: "It's a modern day version of the Ku Klux Klan."
i coulda sworn the klan was still around.... correct me if im wrong
im from the south, and their are only too things i hate.... ignorance and injustice... and get this, the klan AND this school embrace both of those with gleaming smiles.... guess since i can make a connection between the school and the klan i can just tell all people who go there that they cant talk to me then.... man.... idiots

Honest, right-thinking parents know there are three options to ensure their children get a good education. The options are homeschool, a good private school, or a combination of both. That's it. Period.
