I need to download MSFT's Java Virtual Machine, build # 3805 or higher.

It is no longer available on www.microsoft.com/java/vm/dl_vm40.htm

It is 5345 KB, initially made available on 3/6/02.

If you have a working link for this DL, please post it. Thanks.

Thanks for your suggestions. Apparently it's undergoing major surgery. Here's the message on the page both your replies led to:

"The Microsoft Java Virtual Machine (JVM) Build 3805 is temporarily unavailable. It is unclear how long it will take to fix the issue, but the problems are complex and it could take many weeks to rectify.

Sorry, but as soon as the problem is fixed, the link will be restored."

There has to be at least an FTP site out there somewhere with the file you need - - hit the Google link in my post, there are a bunch of sites listed...good luck.

This may or may not help you, but you will get a new JVM with any MS Visual Studio installation. I do not know if it is as up to date as the one you are looking for.

Go to sun's website and download their Java Runtime Environment. It'll install their Java plugin which is just a browser plugin that connects to the latest JRE (1.4.0 rev 1). Java 2 (JRE 1.2+) is significantly faster and better than Java 1 (JRE 1.1 and below). MSFT's is based on JRE 1.1.4 so now you know why it sucks.

Excellent advice. Did that myself a few weeks ago. Works great!
