What Denmark can teach America about dealing with Muslims.

A Muslim organization in Denmark announced a few days ago that a $30,000 bounty would be paid for the murder of several prominent Danish Jews, a threat that garnered wide international notice. Less well known is that this is just one problem associated with Denmark's approximately 200,000 Muslim immigrants. The key issue is that many of them show little desire to fit into their adopted country.

For years, Danes lauded multiculturalism and insisted they had no problem with the Muslim customs - until one day they found that they did. Some major issues:

Other Europeans (such as the late Pim Fortuyn in Holland) have also grown alarmed about these issues, but Danes first made them the basis for a change in government.

In a momentous election last November, a center-right coalition came to power that - for the first time since 1929 - excluded the socialists. The right broke its 72-year losing streak and won a solid parliamentary majority because it promised to handle immigration issues, the electorate's first concern, differently from the socialists.

The next nine months did witness some fine-tuning of procedures: immigrants now must live seven years in Denmark (rather than three) to become permanent residents; most non-refugees no longer can collect welfare checks immediately on entering the country; and no one can bring into the country a spouse under the age of 24. The state prosecutor is considering a ban on Hizb-ut-Tahrir for its death threats against Jews.

These minor adjustments prompted howls internationally - with European and UN reports condemning Denmark for racism and "Islamophobia," the Washington Post reporting that Muslim immigrants "face habitual discrimination," and a London Guardian headline announcing that "Copenhagen Flirts with Fascism."

In reality, however, the new government barely addressed the existing problems. Nor did it prevent new ones, such as the death threats against Jews or a recent Islamic edict calling on Muslims to drive Danes out of the Nørrebro quarter of Copenhagen.

The authorities remain indulgent. The military mulls permitting Muslim soldiers in Denmark's volunteer International Brigade to opt out of actions they don't agree with - a privilege unique to them. Mohammed Omar Bakri, the self-proclaimed London-based "eyes, ears and mouth" of Osama bin Laden, won permission to set up a branch of his organization, Al-Muhajiroun.

Contrary to media reports, the real news from Denmark is not flirting with fascism but getting mired in inertia. A government elected specifically to deal with a set of problems has made minimal headway. Its reluctance has potentially profound implications for the West as a whole.

Its like there is an aversion to dealing with Muslim nazis. Its remarkable how history repeats itself all over again. I hope we're ready for World War III when it arrives.

I was in Copenhagen just a couple of weeks ago. It seems the Muslims mostly live in one section of the city and do not mix in with the general society. The Danes I spoke to are not happy with the Muslim immigrants. This bears out some of the things mentioned in the article.

Yes I agree. The Muslims in America have no desire to be assimilated into a productive role that benefits America. The Muslim Mosque in Columbia, Missouri which I have worked near is a prime example. They have their own school. They have their own social functions. When the Muslims do co-mingle with the real Americans, they are arrogant and pushy. They think we need to understand them better. But their idea of understanding is telling us we have to agree with them or we are against them. This is extreme arrogance.

While the local media went out of it's way to appease local citizens that the Muslims were not a threat to us, and peace loving people, the FBI tells us there are active cells of Al Queda and Hamas and other terrorist organizations in Columbia. There were direct links from Columbia, Mo. to bin Laden. No threat? DUH!!

These people are not friends of America. They will slit our throats given the opportunity. Do not trust them. Their ways are Un- American and cannot mingle with our society in peaceful co-existance. Unfortunately they have managed protection under the law from harassments, that would make anyone feel unwelcome who does not honor their privlige of entering America. These people have not earned our trust and never will.

There is a fine line between being politicaly correct and being just plain stupid.

People that believe these radical moslems can be our friends and allies fit in the second group.

Acts:17:26: And hath made of one blood all nations of men for to dwell on all the face of the earth,and hath determined the times before appointed, and the bounds of their habitation;

Some cultures just do not mix well. Those who do not want to mix should stay where they are. People cannot move into a foreign country and expect to take over anymore than people can come into my home and expect to take over. When people do that then they need to be sent back to where they came from.

No there isn't. In fact, there is no line at all.

German used to be the legal language in Indiana. In some cities English was of only limited use.

Now how did that happen?

The answer is that a whole big bunch of immigrants from various German states arrived all at one time. They overwhelmed the place. Fortunately they were all Jeffersonians who had just lost the 1848 Revolution. This linguistic and cultural disaster for the earlier residents was not as devastating, however, as when the French language was supplanted by English in the early 1800s.

This has happened in other parts of the United States. For example, English speakers over-ran the Tejano culture in Texas. English speakers over-ran the Chinese in California. English speakers over-ran the Polynesian speaking people in Hawaii. English speakers over-ran the French speakers in Louisiana. And folks speaking all kinds of European origin languages over-ran the entirity of the Western Hemisphere.

The fear that an alien culture and language can over-run one's homeland is well grounded in human experience.

For hosting the Hague Kangaroo Tribunal, Dutch deserve to have their own Kosovo and KLA. And they will get it, sooner than later.

I doubt seriously that folks are overly concerned about being overrun by the arabic language. It's the suicide-kiddie bombings and gang rapes they are more likely afraid of.

I wonder if the 19th Century Germans wanted to rape white girls "Leb-style?"

It has worked for Muslims for the last 1400 years. It is time to push them back.

"I hope we're ready for World War III when it arrives."

Got that right, I expect the Muslims intend to take Europe (trashing the Vatican and killing everyone there in the process) with the intent of using those spoils of war (including nukes) to attack the USA. A Muslim uprising in Europe right now is Europes worst nightmare, so they don't want to support Bush and make themselves a target (but they already are).

So what are we here to do. Elect GW for another term who has NO desire to take this issue on or that of ILLEGAL & legal immigration. If you all want to be like Europe just continue with the same "Two-Party Cartel" crumbums who will expand the PC crapola that their elite puppetiers tell them to do. It's only your life & your childrens at stake.

Since the Catholic church is itself in the grips of the "Diversity" mania I expect the Vatican to be Islam's fourth holiest site within a century.

You're right, Bush has no intention on stemming the tide of immigration, legal or illegal. The only country I can think of with a really good handle on this situation is Australia.
