Articles written like this tend to annoy me. First, how does anyone know that this ship was engaged in trade with the Contintent? (Obviously, of course is possible, that it's keel never tasted salt water.) Second, how does anyone know that part of the vessel had been dismantled? (Isn't it possible that the vessel was never completed, the missing parts were never there to start?) How does anyone know that it was drug up a creek? (Is it possible that a boat yard was up a creek and that the vessle was to be floated down the creek when finished?)
I would much rather see the facts reported and leave off the speculation to make the yarn sound better.
