Poll: Britons would prefer to live in the U.S.

Poll: Britons would prefer to live in the U.S.

Remember the utopian socialist model? The free health care, the great education? Almost all of the European countries have moved markedly to the left over the last 30 years. Not surprisingly, quality of life and individual happiness have fallen.

LONDON (Reuters) - More than half of Britons would like to emigrate from their homeland, fed up with the price of living and terrible weather, and would prefer to live in the United States or Spain, a survey published Monday said.

Did you get that!? More than half? That is a huge number of dissatisfied people. Yes the world hates us......and would move here in a New York minute if given the chance.

I like the little part about the weather. I lived in England for 12 months, and the weather is indeed a shortcoming, but that's not what's driving this poll. The Brits have had (many) hundreds of years to get used to the weather. No, the problem is that expanding government programs have led to huge levels of taxation--with little or no benefit to the average taxpayer. Liberal income redistribution schemes have removed incentives for success, while high per capita immigration have eroded the British culture. Liberalism has destroyed the British way of life. Now the people want out.

You wouldn't chance have been born in 1518 in the village of Glenfinnan on the shores of Loch Shiel and are immortal?

I would think the first implies the second. Do you think it would be tough for a man born in the middle-ages to learn to use a computer? It's tough enough for men born in the mid-20th century.

And what happens when your job becomes obsolete? I mean, you spend decades training in the art of raping and pillaging and that whole line of work goes completely out of style.

Imagine all the bad investments -- getting in on the ground floor of buggy whips, starting a crossbow factory.

But the good thing is that the bank will give you a 200-year mortgage. The bad thing is that you probably won't want that thatched roof for too many centuries.

Who does want to live forever, anyway?

Well "conservative till I die" noticed the MacLeod thing LOL( I forgot which MacClan he was from then I looked it up after seeing that). I didn't like the sequel movies to Highlander but did like the TV show when it was on.

I lived in England for 3 years (East Anglia). The weather wasn't THAT bad. Something else is driving this poll besides the weather.

Being immortal with compound interest over the centuries you probably won't need any job skills eventually as long as you hedge against inflation in gold and other non inflatable stuff occasionally.

Beware Prince Ludwig, the Indestructible.

His American cousin was Elmer Fudd.
