You wouldn't chance have been born in 1518 in the village of Glenfinnan on the shores of Loch Shiel and are immortal?

I would think the first implies the second. Do you think it would be tough for a man born in the middle-ages to learn to use a computer? It's tough enough for men born in the mid-20th century.

And what happens when your job becomes obsolete? I mean, you spend decades training in the art of raping and pillaging and that whole line of work goes completely out of style.

Imagine all the bad investments -- getting in on the ground floor of buggy whips, starting a crossbow factory.

But the good thing is that the bank will give you a 200-year mortgage. The bad thing is that you probably won't want that thatched roof for too many centuries.

Who does want to live forever, anyway?

Being immortal with compound interest over the centuries you probably won't need any job skills eventually as long as you hedge against inflation in gold and other non inflatable stuff occasionally.
