August 26, 2002 -- EVERY year, I tell myself I can't afford to spend a week at Boy Scout camp. And every year, after 15 minutes, I am once again mesmerized by the never-ending drama of watching older scout leaders turn boys into men.

Scouting is a great tool to help turn boys into men. But, it is just that ... a tool. It can be a wonderful compliment, but it can never take the place of good parents ... and for boys ... it can never take the place of a good Dad. Our society somehow needs to get back to that IMHO. I know many, many are still there.

Been to Cub Scout camp several times. Total blast. Our Pack, Pack 381, won the camp Spirit Award. Drove everyone else nuts but we had fun.
