Just watched the Hatfill press conference. FBI continuing on its theory that this was something that originated from the US and that Atta must have had athlete's foot or something. Hatfill, if innocent, is rightly indignant at his treatment.
Yeah, well.. he should go after the FBi hammer and thongs. And keeping in the public eye may well keep him alive, as well.
I've been given to understand that Barbara Hatch Rosenberg, the woman whose report is underpinning much of the witch-hunt against him, is actually an old girlfriend of his who has been after him for years. This could become real interesting and earn the bureau the kind of black eye it certainly doesn't need right now.
Fox News channel now reports that the FBI does not comment on matters like this. Of course not - legally, that would be more leaking. Maybe they're after someone else who's a person of interest and the twenty number is window dressing.
Today, he stated "I am not the anthrax killer." But, maybe he's a person of interest because unbeknownst to him, someone else he knew is a suspect and that person is in the group of twenty also.
It will make more sense later on. Meanwhile, he's going to try to make trouble for Ashcroft with the help of a dem klintoon type attorney. You know when something gets broken at home and all the kids quickly say "not me". This is what we have here. It doesn't mean the entire group of 20 are innocent but the other 19 aren't holding press conferences. Does this guy want to write a book or something?
Hatfill may be an innocent pawn in a clinton holdover setup of Ashcroft. Look at how successful he was today in convincing everyone that Ashcroft is a bad guy. The clinton holdovers in the FBI, at justice and the DNC would love to bring Ashcroft down. This may be step one.
Wait until the Senate gets back from vacation. They FINALLY have an issue for the primaries and then the November elections. You see, this is not just about Hatfill IMO. It's scorched earth politics. They can't get Dubya's poll numbers down and they are desperate to hold on to seats in November. Attacking Dubya hasn't worked so, Aschcroft is next - it seems to be more effective.
Further, I am not a broken glass Republican. I filled out my RNC census form and I criticized the RNC for being more centrist than I like and for not supporting the more conservative candidates in primaries. And, those weren't even on the survey. I added those comments in red magic marker lol. FV
I think most of us would protest much louder if we were in the spotlight as is Hatfill. Did I understand right that one of the FBI involved is a Ruby Ridge person????
You've got that right! At one point I thought, wow he might just be found to have committed "suicide" soon.
I watched the entire press conference, and I thought Hatfill did a great job warning us of the potential harm a police state would bring to "Citizens of Interest" under the Patriot Act.
Jewell was guilty as hell also, when he protested his innocence, people said, look at the fat guy lie.
Saying that this rises to an ethics violation by Ashcroft may get heard but Hatfill will lose. That's the way it will come down IMO, but the dems will definitely use this issue all during the primaries and November elections. HATFILL HANDED THEM AN ELECTION ISSUE. "Here you go Mr. MacAuliffe, at your service."
Can we move on please???
LOL .. that is what I thought at first .. but CNN kept saying it was live
As for this dude .. there are a lot of questions about this guy past history that I am not ready to put him in the category of "I'm a victum"
With that said .. yes I know the FBI doesn't have a great history either
If there's a Clinton angle to this, I contend there are Clintonites in DOJ who are running the presecution of this man, and do not want to look at the evidence showing Mohammed Atta's involvement, because it makes the government look bad. Yup, it just HAD to be a white right-winger, can't possibly be an Islamic fundy terrorist who died in 9/11. That would make us look like fools.
You have absolutley nailed it.
I watch Richard Jewell and thought, "He's telling the truth".
I watched "I did not have sex...." and thought, "What a liar!".
I watched Hatfill today and think, 'He's telling the truth'.
Bet I am 3 for 3..
Look at the Boston case, a man served 20 years or so for a murder the FBI knew he did not committ. Anymore, I have little use for the FBI.
