Angry Truck Stop Manager Turns Away Police, Safety Inspectors Email story to a friend
Date: August 16, 2002 Source: Janet Blair / KRQE News 13 Location: Albuquerque, N.M.
A community anti-auto theft team was ready to go to work Thursday morning. But an angry truck stop manager put the brakes on their plan, turning away the group of local and federal inspectors.
The team were going to check the truck paperwork and do a quick safety inspection. Inspectors say because I-40 is a pipeline across the country, they were hoping to find stolen vehicles, drugs and other property they know is moving across country right through the Duke City.
"We're checking for bad VIN numbers, VIN switches, cab switches, trailer switches, bad trailers, stolen trailers, anything with bad VIN numbers or vin numbers that have been removed," said Officer Danny Langoria of the APD Auto Theft Unit.
They had just gotten started when it was all over.
Langoria was interrupted by the manager of the Flying J Truck Stop at Avalon and 98th St. on Albuquerque's West Side.
"You need to leave the property, you have no permission to be on private property," yelled the truck stop manager, who refused to be identified.
Police say most business owners appreciate a police presence on the premises, but not the Flying J Truck Stop. Police say they had called the truck to and had received approval to do the inspections.
"Apparently there was some misunderstanding about what we were doing. but I know he has business he has to protect," said Officer Langoria
Some truckers at the Flying J were also angered by the surprise inspections which they said took valuable time out of their driving day.
"It's incredible. I have never even heard of them doing that, anywhere in the United States. and I drive in all 48 states, all the time," said owner-operator William Senn of Arizona.
Unhappy truckers told KRQE News 13 they planned to use their CB radios to tell other truckers on the road not to stop in Albuquerque.
Prohibited conduct must be uncovered and punished. Everywhere. All the time. Unless your name is Ted Kennedy. Barbara Boxer. Charles Schumer. Jane Fonda. Cynthia McKinney......
You have hit on something there. Nevertheless a number agencies in that category HAVE been issued personal weapons and the "training" to use them.
We now arrive at a time when a Social Worker without warrant or probable cause can come on your property to investigate "child abuse" or "endangerment" and if you start mouthing off they may decide to continue their investigation "by force of arms"

As we saw a week ago, when a foaming at the mouth 'Constitutionalist', blew away a cop in Massilon, Ohio after a traffic stop, traffic cops need weapons to defend themselves.
The article in question did not really make it clear which party was "foaming at the mouth".What it did say was that the "suspect" stopped his car, rolled down his window, showed his driver's license, engaged in conversation, but was uncooperative!
'Uncooperative! I guess that is one way of saying that he fled from the traffic stop, which is a felony. When he was pursued, and stopped again, he was witnessed pulling a weapon. He then fled again, and when he was stopped the last time, he left the car firing his weapon, killing a local cop, leaving a widow and children. I guess that you can call this uncooperative! Wonder why you left this part out?
The ideologues in their juvenile mentality will point to the horrors of force: John littered a Snickers bar candy wrapper, and a policeman saw it and came along to give him a $20.00 ticket for his infraction, hoping to make him act a little more responsibly next time. Well, John tore up the ticket and threw it in the gutter. The date of his court apprearance came and went, so a bench warrant was issued. The police came by his trailer to arrest him for his failure to appear. John refuses to come out. To make his point on how serious he is about wanting to be left alone, he brandishes a weapon. Eventually it escalates and now John is dead. The ideologues would claim: "Gee! The Blue Meanies murdered John merely for littering a candy wrapper! You want to murder people for littering?! 'Cause that is what you are doing when you support the rule of law!"
The Massillon Threads are filled with errors of logic and improper reasoning based on newspaper accounts filled with errors of omission and comission as well as errors of logic and improper reasoning. They have been properly bumped into the new "Smokey Backroom Forum" where they belong and where I am content to leave them.
My offers to discuss the issues on that topic in those threads were rebutted with inflammatory language and in some cases abusive posts which were pulled by the moderator.
If you wish to discuss those issues in a non-inflammatory manner in some thread somewhere I am willing to entertain the idea as my time and circumstances permit.
I will practice "zero tolerance" for derogatory characterizations of either the Officer or the Citizen killed in that inane encounter.
And yes, everyone needs a gun to defend themselves. They must also have a healthy respect for proper rules of engagement. Something government agencies seem to lack with alarming frequency.
Best regards,
Yes the backers of the cop-killer have really gotten whacked out. I guess that this thread belongs there too. I think I will suggest that.
Total BS. What business owner wants police inspections on their property?
Steriods are certainly something to consider when reading about instances that go haywire as well as medications both legal and illegal or even some cases ordinary over-the-counter food supplements.
The phrase "steriod infested nuts" is unnecessarily derogatory.
It is technically more accurate and descriptive to say Official or individual under the influence of steriods, or medication or mind altering substance.
Best regards,
If you continue to use phrases such as "cop killer", "foaming at the mouth" and "whacked out" I will have no choice but to rescind my offer to discuss this or any other issue with you.
Your choice.
Best regards,
