Black Demonstrators Demand Slavery Reparations

Barron, a self-proclaimed "elected revolutionary," said if the government did not act swiftly he personally would storm the Treasury Department ( news - web sites) and take the money for reparations.

Black activist Louis Farrakhan told the crowd, "America owes the black people a lot for what they've endured."

"We need land for political independence, we need millions of acres," Farrakhan added. "We need payment for 310 years of slavery, of destruction of our minds and the robbery of our culture." {/B>

The United States, torn apart by the Civil War, abolished slavery in 1865. Some people argue that even 137 years after abolition, blacks still suffer from the vestiges of slavery.

U.S. Rep. John Conyers, a Democrat from Michigan, urged blacks to press their elected representatives in Congress to deal with the issue of slavery reparations.

"We want reparations -- not next century, not 10 years from now, but now," Conyers said. "These wrongs can only be corrected in the House of Representatives, only Congress can do what we want now. All congressmen ought to be here today."

Lets give him directions to the local bankand let him knock it off and tell him he hit the jackpot.

Ah, let's just give them a tourist class ticket to Zimbabwe. Tell them they can have all the land they want.

The really scary thing is that this is a man who has been exposed to a mainstream institution for several years, who has seen the modeling of appropriate behavior and should have been socialized to understand American business and political culture. Yet he still acts and talks like a backward hick. If I were a black person, I would be totally embarressed.

What is truly reprehensible is how they try to tear down hard working, conservative, educated, stand-on-their-own-two-feet blacks just because they didn't play the blame game and worked hard and made something of their lives and careers.

Also, I am getting sick and tired of these whiners, of all colors, claiming that just because I am white I have it automatically made. I have news for them; I am struggling to make it too. Everything I own was earned through hard work. I am going to college and it isn't free. There are a few things in my life that aren't perfect, but I'm not looking to blame others.

Maybe our first 'black' President should be the one to storm the treasury instead.
My oh my, looky at the points he could score with liberal blacks doing that...

A few thousand black demonstrators rallied on the Mall

Weren't there supposed to be a million out there?

Anyway, whether or not, having seen firsthand how the liberal press amplifies rallies they're politically sympathetic to, and grossly undercounts those they're politically opposed to, I read "a few thousand" as "from 700 to 1400." Line 'em up in a square, 40 by 40... oops. Sorry. not enough

They're probably counting the guilty white people in on that tally.

I missed that part of his speech. I did see him say that 50 million blacks died on the slave transports to America.

Earth to Louis. 50 million?

We endure you, Louis.

Consider the debt cancelled.

It has been said that reparations is the only way that America can “make them whole” for bringing their ancestors to the colonies against their will.

And if that’s the case then I am all for it.

Let’s contact our representatives to “make them whole”, but not by half measure….but full measure.

But what I mean by “full measure” is that any reparation monies would be inextricably linked to repatriation.

Every “descendent” who feels that they need to be made whole, will have a check ready and waiting for them, payable after A.) they denounce their American citizenship, B.) relinquish any future claims to that citizenship, and C.) are ready to step on board the plane or boat that will whisk them back to the “land of milk and honey”.

Then and only then, would I consider them “made whole”.

Setting aside a sizeable percentage of the projected welfare expenditures for the next three years, to pay for these reparations, in my opinion, is an excellent investment.

The return on investment at the federal level is more than enough to consider such a move, but the savings for the States, Counties and Cities across this nation would have a major impact on their economies as well.

Less crime, fewer jails, drastic reductions in free medical care costs, just to name a few, would put a sizeable dent in the budget deficits we see at the local level across the country.

They want to be made whole, then I say let’s open the debate toward that end….but no half measures!

I would be willing to give them Ted Turner's land and money, all of Hollywood, all of Berekely, Martha's Vineyard, and other liberal enclaves. Oh yes, confiscate all of the wealth of white liberals and give it to them, since they care so much more than we.

We want reparations

No reparations without repatriation!! But I'll be generous -- they can go to the Peoples' Paradise of Zimbabwe instead of some other land of origin. I hear they're unaccountably suddenly in need of farmers there in Zimbabwe to work the land.

(And if they have a change of heart they can set foot on U.S. soil again -- after they've paid back the extor.. er, reparations amount, in full plus interest.)

Sounds like I 've got to read that book, thanks for mentioning it.

I agree fully with your analysis of the situation. Instigators like Farakhan cannot lead in a productive environment, they know only how to insire to burn and loot. He wants exactly what you said, and for the reason you stated the white American continues to give him --- and Jackson et al --- more than he deserves. I am just wondering where it is going to end: this post-colonial guilt is even worse in Europe.

1. The freak assumes there is something in the treasury he can take.

Exactly. He seems to have this Hollywood idea that some where in Washington there is a big room where the government keeps it's treasure. Something along the line of Scrooge McDuck's money vault I assume.

Maybe he could storm the Mint.

The only thing Bubba would storm is a brothel.

And like Hitlery in the diner, he'd not only find a way to avoid paying for the service but he'd stiff, er, fail to tip, the help.
