Dead Squirrel Painted By Road Crews - Resident Sees It As 'Uncaring' (Ohio)

CLEVELAND -- A photo in the Akron Beacon Journal shows a dead squirrel painted over by a road crew, NewsChannel5 reported.

The incident happened on Riverview Road in the Valley.

"I think that's kind of tacky, kind of uncaring, too," said Vonceil Terrell, an Akron resident.

Janet Carter, another resident, said, "I don't think they should've gone over it. There's no way you could miss a squirrel. I think they should've picked up the squirrel before they did the road."

That's the sentiment of the city's Service Director Joe Kidder.

Kidder said the carcass should have been picked up and that not doing so was a mistake.

Issues of caring aside, shouldn't they have removed the squirrel to avoid leaving an unpainted section of road underneath it? I would think that before the center of a road is painted it should be cleared of all debris, formerly-living or not.

She's right. These guys obviously don't care about painting a good line. They should have moved the rodent to one side before painting.

I'll try to explain my screen name. Blackbart was a bandit who robbed stage coaches in California in the nineteenth century. I don't rob stage coaches but I like the name. Go figure. As to the .223, I have two rifles in that caliber and they give me good long range performance.

As to your reference as something as "wrong as hell" I assume you are refering to replacing the .308 or 30/06 as military rounds with the .223 (5.56 nato).

Squirrels are great, really cute, as you point out. Life, and living creatures are great. I love them, in amazement, and respect for God. I pity them the one-way, ignorant and short, hard life many of them lead. I kill stuff, eat some, but am amazed at it all. A vet. told me that squirrels live around 17 years in captivity, but in the wild, in New York, 3 years tops.

Ate "saddle of beaver" once at an Explorer's Club dinner a while ago. By the way, medallions of zebra are delicious...really! Like prime rib beef. Alligator tails are good, too.

A heat gun will remove it. Super Glue will release at about 150º, unless you sprinkled baking soda into it.

That will take a prybar and a repair job on the surface that it was attached to.

Arm & Hammer and Super Glue make an almost inseparable compound. Cheap too.

If I remember, Black Bart was the Gentleman Robber of stagecoaches, who had a tendency to wear a handkerchief in the pocket as apparel once in a while, along with a top hat, maybe to appeal to the ladies he was robbing .

This site comes to mind, but as far as the other is concerned, I was thinking more along the lines of the early caliber of the early development of armament used in an Asian country far far away.
