GORED AGAIN . . . FOR GOOD REASON

August 16, 2002 -- I INTENDED to get out of the political-prognostication business after my prediction that John McCain would be the GOP presidential nominee in 2000 made me look like an idiot. But, as Al Pacino said in "Godfather 3," every time I try to get out, they pull me back in. Indeed, it was my own idiocy in 2000 that informs this totally, maybe even absurdly, confident prediction.

It's my opinion that the Dems know they won't win in '04 and are using Al as the sacrificial goat.

Good, let Gore run on populist and environmental issues.

"The powerful vs the people" is a really nice little sound bite, but doesn't compare with "Terrorist will be brought to justice or we will bring justice to the terrorist"

The environmental issues don't win elections

His VP pick will be Hillary

Though that opinion will probably hold water with a lot of people, I don't buy it.

Gore will be the candidate because the dems have nobody else to ran with even a decent chance, the dems will be like people possessed to see Gore win.

Do not underestimate them.

Remember dems are like rabid dogs on their good days. Frothing at the mouth and demented

This slobbering fool will make an excellent candidate, but will again offer voters nothing but a horse's ass shoving his tongue down his wife's throat in front of a million people.

Besides, our current Republicrat president is out-democrating the democrats.

If I was running for president,I wouldn't want hitlery as my vice.Seems like she has connection enough to get foster offed while still in the WH,would be too easy to get on the friends of hill and bill list.

Think how much fun it's going to be calling his supporters "Gorons" again.

I tend to agree with you. If he wins, the dems will be pleased, if he loses, well...it was only because he was going up against a wartime president. And if he loses, he'll be gone, opening the way for Hillary, which is their likely long-term strategy. God help us if she gets back in the WH.

Don't laugh at a Gore campaign. After the elections of 2000, anything is possible. I was certain that Bush would have won by a comfortable margin. All polls indicated that. He didn't. Of course, we also have to factor in the media's almost successful effort to manipulate the outcome of the elections, the squelshing of military votes, and the illegal votes of criminals and illegal aliens.

I had also believed that Hillary didn't stand a snowball's chance in Hell of winning the senate race.

There are millions upon millions of Americans who believe the Democratic propoganda and they have the likes of Oprah, et.al. to promote those lies.

Don't dismiss a Gore win as an impossibility. The DomcRATS have just begun their campaign of lies and deception.

I believe that line was from Carlitas's Way. Oh, and Gore will lose again. Big time.

He (mclame) spent a month infuriating GOP constituent groups and acting like a pompous jerk.

A month??? He has YET to stop infuriating the GOP; and for the record - he doesn't act like a pompous jerk, he IS a pompous jerk.

No it was from the Godfather 3: "Just when I thought I was out, they pull me back in".

"Our true enemy has yet to show his face".

The environmental issues don't win elections

In some states where the election was close, the votes for Ralph Nader might have cost Gore the election. (Though, who knows? Some of those Green Party votes would've stayed home, voted for GWB, written in someone silly or voted for another third party candidate)

So, one way to argue it is that possibly the environmental issues did win the election...for the candidate who was less concerned with environmental issues.

Gore is the Fredo of Democrat politics.

At one point I created a graphic with Gore, bearing the legend, "The Clodfather".

Never mind, this appears to be a long whinge on Gore's part, ala Fredo: "I'm smart, I can handle things...Bill is like my kid brother and I was passed over! I'm smart and I want respect!" ;)

I have a very hard time believing that Her Majesty would play second fiddle to Al Gore, expecially since she made herself more important than him when Bill was president.
