Sen. Hillary Clinton of New York is proving to be one of the Democrats' largest donors far outpacing her Senate party leaders to Democratic candidates.
Clinton's leadership political action co0mmitttee, HILLPAC, has donated $469,000 to Senate and House Democratic candidates in this election cycle, according to Federal Election Commission records through June 30.
Patricia Solis Doyle, executive director of HILLPAC, said the aggressive pace of contributions to fellow Democrats should quiet accusations that Clinton intends to hoard donations to her leadership PAC for a presidential bid.
"Our mission is to get Democrats elected," Doyle said. HILLPAC had $62,557 in available cash.
Political action committees are usually viewed as a tool for higher office. About 20 senators have PACs, but it's rare for a freshman lawmaker such as Clinton to have one.
Senate Majority Leader Tom Daschle's DASHPAC has contributed $269,000 to Democrats in the same 18-month period, leaving about $1.1 million in the fund. Daschle, D-S.D., is up for re-election in 2004 and is considering a run for the presidency.
Clinton has said she intends to serve her full six-year term as a senator, which would preclude a presidential bid in 2004.
Her donor base includes a broad-range of well-known people, including model Christie Brinkley ($5,000); Robert Johnson, chairman of Black Entertainment Television ($5,000); and Dreamworks co-founder Jeffrey Katzenberg ($2,500).
Among those who have contributed $10,000, include longtime friend Walter Kaye, who referred Monica Lewinsky to the White House for an internship.

Ain't she special!!
If 'The Dasschle' runs for President,I'll bet Shrillary's probably the VP candidate.Surely this is why Mr. McAWFULiffe is in place at the DNC.She "intends"---Still can't get a straight answer out of the 'the Beast'. I have a hard time pondering why she'd leave the 'safe' confines of being a Senator, but when one wants "More Power",(god knows she wants to be in charge) people like this will do anything.
Look again, wallcrawlr, Hellpac has paid out more to DemoCraps than Daschole. He's supposedly the highest-ranking elected DemoCrap in government. Looks like the junior Senator from NY has more pull.
Or she knows where more of the bodies are buried...
It's about time the accounting practices of the movie studios were checked for good accounting practices, the studio execs a source of a lot of this DemoCrap cash. I have yet seen someone recommend a full accounting of a Hollywood studio. It's a cash business at the movie theaters and only an maroon would not assume money-laundering at the local site.
Hmmmm. You've jarred my mind. Lets think into the future, rather than the past for a minute or so. With Ashcroft now in charge of the FBI, is it safe to say he has the raw FBI files on Hillary?
Jm Wright extorted money from corrupt S&L officials in Texas and then used that money to buy the loyalty of back-bencher Democrats who would jump when he said frog. The only difference between Jim and Hilliary! is that he looked better in a suit, and the public caught onto his scam and he was forced to resign. Hillary!, unfortunately, will never resign. She will have to be marignalzed.
It's called cash and carry politcs. They are buying suporters and allies, using money they have extorted from special interests. It would be called bribery, except that it is entirely legal under the FEC law. That law, of course, was written and has been periodically amended for the benefit of the incumbents.
No surprises here. To the tune of "Birth of the Blues," -- "And the money goes round and round." Any politican who worships power and has had his/her ethics surgically removed, will behave in this financial fashion.
