It is a pity that we agree on so much. I would enjoy debating with classy well informed intelligent folks such as yourself, but it is hard to debate with one with whom you largely agree. Maybe we should take up that execrable steel quota bill again or something, and savage each other just for the fun of it.

LOL! OK...maybe tomorrow we can discuss the steel quota, or the education bill. I have had two martinis tonight so I am not in tip-top form.

I am trying to remember when the tone got so rancourous around here, and it seems to me this started back during the primaries of 2000. It now ebbs and flows according to the events of the day.

I also think that there are some here who are not really interested in debating the issues, but rather are interested in dividing us, and pulling support away from the President. There seem to be quite a few posts from new people that never actually have anything to say other than the same slogans, over and over again.

It is almost like they have a cheat sheet of phrases that they use to sound like a conservative, similar to the seminar callers on C-SPAN. Two years ago I would have thought this was a silly notion, but as our numbers and influence have increased I am thinking this is a real possibility.

Figures. I'm a free trader and I'm for them. I thought we would agree they were good. This is an unusual case. My support is not based on any fondness for my former union either.
