Anthony LoBaido produces an unusual take on J. Pollard, perhaps the most controversial inelligence agent of the late 20th century.

The more I read the more lethargic I became. It is impossible to take a guy like this seriously.
I didn't make it to the end.

Thank you for posting this article. Lots to think about but no way to verify the points made.
Certainly some very powerful people want this man to die behind bars. That clinton brokered his release and then reneged leaving Netanyahu with nothing but a broken promise is just one more bit of the legacy of the previous President.

What a fascinating article (sarcasm) -- all those disconnected thoughts, and not a single one of them makes a compelling argument in favor of releasing Jonathan Pollard. In fact, almost none of those points have anything to do with Jonathan Pollard.
To: robowombat
Pollard was a spy for Israel. Anything he stole, the Israelis were free to sell to others and, did so, almost certainly to our enemies (much like the Israeli settlers selling guns and ammo to the Palestinians in a nearby city where terrorists dwell). The Israelis don't care about Pollard, personally. But, they need him to convince the others that are spying for them in America, trying to steal information that can be sold, that, if caught, Isrel will back them and get them released.
Pollard must die in jail!!! That act must convince the other spies that, if they are caught and not executed, they'll die in jail. There is no reason to let him go and every reason to let him die where he is. Israel may be our ally in many regards, but they can be relied on to ALWAYS do what they think is in their own best long term interests, no matter what the effect might be on the US.

I didn't make it to the end.Me neither. What a pile of excusist crap. File this one with Johnny Bin Walker's father calling his son a great patriot.

Jonathan Pollard has confessed his misdeeds and done his hard time. No, he hasn't. When he serves out his sentence (which is life imprisonment) and his dead body leaves the prison in a wooden coffin, then he will have done his hard time.

Hey. Where's the Mossad Squad on this thread?
To: Tacis; robowombat
According to Gordon Thomas, author of "Seeds of Fire", the main reason Israel wants Pollard back is because of his analytical ability to decipher intel signals gathered through use of the stolen PROMIS software and with what Pollard still knows of what he saw and stole he would be invaluable to the Mossad, and everyone they do business with, which has included the Red Chinese. Israel's actions have shown they care not about the US, only what we can do for them. They have penetrated and compromised the deepest security of the US and should not be trusted to act in our best interest. But knee-jerk fanactics dont care about this. Someone has warped the Bible to fit with modern day Israel and the end times and they dont care about the getting to the facts, just their own emotions.
In other words, it would be the height of treason to let him go, with what the US knows that Israel and Pollard both know.
The other thing about this article that reeks is that the author seeks to compare Pollard to Clinton and therefore lessen the impact of Pollard's crimes to this country. What a zionist red herring. I will no longer look at Lobaido's articles the same way.

What you both said. Pollard is a traitor and must pay the price of his treason. Whether the Israelis want him for himself, as an example and encouragement to the rest of the (perhaps hundreds of) Israeli spies in the US, or for his ability to commit further treason to the US, is irrelevant, they cannot have him. I just hope his communications are sufficiently monitored that he his doing no futher harm.
PS, I stronlgly support Israel against the Palestinians and the rest of the Arab scum who want to destroy Israel, and I detest the Euroscum who are showing their true antisemitic colors. I still don't think the US should tolerate traitors, especially in dual citizens. The decision to give or withhold information to our ally Israel was above his pay grade, as it were, and we must be able to absolutely trust our officers. Death would have been a better option with Pollard, because he would not have been a cause celebre.

Jonathan Pollard has confessed his misdeeds and done his hard time. It's time for him to go back to his spiritual home of Israel. Lets put someone else more deserving in his cell. The reason Pollard hasn't been let out of jail is that he hasn't yet revealed who else in the U.S. intelligence community was feeding him the ID numbers so he'd know what documents to steal. Pollard always says she's so sorry for what he did. If he were really sorry he'd tell us who his associates were.

Areally good point that gets to the why of the very tight grip we keep on this gentleman.
To: DentsRun
Let's not forget that Pollard's motivation was money, not love of Israel. He shopped his services around. In one sense, we were lucky that Israel won the bidding war and not China or Russia.
Clearly, Israel will have to continue to ask for his release since he was their agent. But just as clearly, we will continue to say no since he was our traitor. At least until Hillary becomes President and gets a big money offer for his pardon and release. shudder

Pollard was an intelligence analyst, a job with which I am personally and intimately familiar. He signed a document detailing specifically what he could not reveal and what would happen to him if he did. He knowingly revealed highly sensitive information to parties not authorized to receive it. He was caught.
All the rest is irrelevant.

Strap the son of a bitch to a cruise missile and send him home to Bibi and the rest of his buddies.
