Sarandon Boycotts Rocky Horror
SciFi Wire ^ | August 6, 2002

Posted on 08/07/2002 10:31:43 AM PDT by Paul Atreides

Susan Sarandon, one of the original stars of the cult 1975 SF movie The Rocky Horror Picture Show, told SCI FI Wire that she wants nothing to do with a proposed remake—not even a cameo. "I'm boycotting the Rocky Horror Picture Show organization," she said in an interview. "They should have shared some of the wealth from Rocky Horror. For me, it's the principle of the thing. There are other people involved with that movie who need some money, and they should spread it out a little bit. It's been a golden egg for the longest time, and it's the least they could do."

The last straw for Sarandon was when the producers asked her to participate in the DVD special edition. "I'll let you in on a secret," she said. "When they did the DVD, and they asked me to do the voice-over [commentary], I said, 'How about giving people some money? You could throw a little money our way.' And they wouldn't, and I didn't, so they took an interview from VH1 that I had done for their anniversary show. I've done a lot of press for The Rocky Horror Picture Show, because I love the movie and I love the people, but they took that and put it on the DVD [instead]."

The Fox network will celebrate the 30th anniversary of Rocky Horror with The Rocky Horror Birthday Show, a two-hour movie to be produced by Fox TV Studios, according to The Hollywood Reporter. Birthday will air in February 2003, 30 years after Richard O'Brien first penned Rocky Horror as a play that ran in London, the trade paper reported.

Did Sarandon put up money to make the movie? Did she have any money at risk should the movie have flopped? Would she have still cashed her checks had the movie flopped?

I answer no, no and yes.

I have no problem with this; I've been boycotting Sarandon for years. Fair is fair.

Our crew dressed for the parts, too. I ended up playing Brad Majors, which meant I was stripped to my underwear in front of hundreds of heckling folks ...

Ahem. Ms. Sarandon: did you not sign a contract, denoting what you would do, and how you would be compensated for doing so ? Did they hold a gun to your head ?

Hint: the answers are "Yes" and "No", respectively. But after all, it's only a contract: they're making more money than anticipated, and you're not getting any of it, so therefore, they must have stolen it from you. Typical Hollywierd liberal thinking. OTOH, as I recall, the cast and crew of the original STAR WARS **ALL** got a share of the profits, and all are doing quite nicely. Why ? Because it was in their CONTRACT. . . .

So, Susan, cry me a river. . . .

IF it's midnight, and you're drunk enough, anything will do. It's definitely in the "anything will do" category for drunk college students and people with IQ's lower than 70.

That's what I assumed it was all about. I never saw it, better things to do.

"Short-haired Red-Head". Columbia, a Groupie, played by Little Nell. AKA Laura Campbell. Only had two other notable parts in The Killing Fields and in Pink Floyd: The Wall. All in all, maybe 20 some movies/show appearances.

'Nuff trivia fer now I guess.

That explains why I saw "Rock & Roll High School" twice in one semester...

Now there's a movie! Seen it 50+ times at least...

"We're not students...we're The Ramones!"

I am curious about the "remake". Why bother trying to replace a good movie? Better they should work on replacing bad movies.

Never understood the popularity of that film. Most boring and dull 2 hrs I ever wasted.

You are the only person, other than myself, who thinks that way about that boring movie. All my friends in High School thought it was glorious and funny, but I was just past that Hokum Jive Nonsense, and walked out of the screening cause it didn't appeal to me.( Several of those so-called friends, are complete Leftists, live in Oregon-- nothing wrong w/ that,in and of itself--but have never grown up either).I never saw it all the way through.Even then,I was a discriminating viewer of movies. It just didn't register w/ my brain.Ms. Sarandon is simply a slug.It is interesting when leftists complain about money though.Isn't she past her 'acting prime' at about 60 years of age or so?Ohhh, that's too bad. LOL

Not everyone understands folk dancing

Yeah, in order to properly understand "folk dancing", you probably have to be a member of some "hunting lodge for rich weirdos."
