Get a copy the Democratic Party's mailing list and send a copy of the virus to everybody on it.

My ISP auto-deleted a virus-laden message from Newsmax the other day. Curious...

It is the way the virus works. It is not affiliated with FR or anything. Get the info on the virus and you will see. Also do a search on FR, this same thing has been posted several times.

I have been occasionally receiving emails from JR @ e-orchard.com for several weeks. I opened the first one and it was empty, can't remember if there was an attachment. But I've deleted the rest without opening.

Hope your computer is okay ; - )

Mine is doing fine.

These are all related to the KLEZ virus. The infected machine picks a send to address at randmom from address books and internet web pages.

It does the same with the From address.

Finally, it picks a random subject line from documents on the system.

I received the same thing. I also received the same virus from "friendsofsteele" making it sound like it was from the Erlich-Steele campaign.

Me thinks that the libs are doing nasty stuff. Thank goodness I have a good virus detector.

There's some nasty stuff going on out there, Michael.

I'm running Norton 2002, and some bug made it into my e-addys on AOL.

I'll be changing to Road-Runner on Aug 15 after the move to Tarpon Springs, and have a new e-addy(on my profile page).

I talked with JimRob and TommyJoe about this problem. I'm not very computer-literate, but it looks like we're under attack again. Shades of 1999, huh?

Stay well armed and vigilant, pal.............FRegards

My small Service Provider..has removed most spam coming to my mailboxes, I have the option to check as they dump every two..they have caught viruses coming in preventing them from reaching me..this is what their Postini program does:
Here is a brief overview of the Postini service:

Your email passes through Postini's automated filters that detect suspected junk email and viruses.

Suspicious email is directed to your personal, web-based, password-protected Message Center (it does not arrive at your computer's in box). Think of this as a quarantine area. In your Message Center you can read the quarantined email online, delete it, or deliver (forward) it to your in box.

Initially you should visit your Message Center often because Postini "remembers and learns" from your interaction. As time goes on you will be able to rely on Postini's periodic notifications of your Message Center activity.

Postini lets you "block" senders; meaning email from them will always be filtered. Or you can "approve" senders; meaning their email will always be delivered.

This service is completely controlled by you.
I have learned to rely on it and with my Nortons 2002 have been protected this far...and for their attentiveness I am appreciative.

Hey Gonzo!

Yer movin to Tampon Strings? I live just next door in Holiday! You'll have to come by for a cookout.

BTW, I too, have been getting the I-worm KLEZ.H virus embedded in emails from a variety of sources. Probably 6 or 7 of them so far. Luckily, my AVG anti-virus has caught it so far.

I was down for about 5 days, evidently because of a virus. I had to wipe the hard-drive and reinstall my apps. I had to get help, which cost me about $180 total.

I'll admit I was pretty stupid, but now I use "protection," Norton that is. The experience is no longer quite the same but I don't worry as much. Norton isolated the virus in my email and "quarantined" it. How safe is this "quarantine," compared to say, latex? I'm joking, as usual, but serious. Any recommendations?

Thanks.

Probably the Klez virus that takes random phrases from the mailbox of an infected computer and sends out the virus to people in the address book of the poor schlub.
