Poll: Rendell Still Leads Fisher for Pa. Gov.By the numbers, it's unchanged from the same poll taken three weeks ago.
Republican Mike Fisher losing to Cemocrat(sp) Ed Rendell in this poll, fifty-two percent to thirty-eight percent with a margin of error of three-point-nine percent. Now the western Pennsylvania numbers are a more significant story.
In the western portion of the state, which is Fisher's home turf, Rendell has now taken the lead over the attorney general forty-five percent to forty-one percent.
If Rendell can hold this lead into November, he'll be tough to beat. The Eyewitness Survey-U.S.A. Poll questioned 628 likely voters in Pennsylvania.

Look, Im no political strategist here, but its getting toward mid August. Shouldnt Fisher start his campaign sometime soon?
I know that the super-stealth double-secret low profile campaign worked out nicely in the primary for you Fisher, but you were running unopposed. Rendells been out pressing flesh for a good nine months now, and hes going to try to meet every person in the state. Staying home, wedged under your bed, doesnt seem like a successful strategy.

Way to go, PA!!!!
Vote for the guy that doesn't believe in your 2nd Amendment rights AND who most certainly will raise your taxes. Nice job. Your papers, please!

I agree. Fisher didn't have to spend any money in the primary. Even his damn web site isn't up yet. What is it with Republicans? They just don't know how to fight.

Mark Schweiker ought to be drawn and quartered for not running for the full term in November. After his performance during the recent miners' incident sent his popularity ratings through the roof and he would've stomped "Fast Eddie" into the ground. If Fisher doesn't get off his a$$, the PA 8-in, 8-out, will prevail again. And "Fast Eddie" ain't no Bob Casey, Sr., either. :-(

"Mark Schweiker ought to be drawn and quartered for not running for the full term in November. After his performance during the recent miners' incident sent his popularity ratings through the roof and he would've stomped "Fast Eddie" into the ground"Thank you. I was thinking the same thing.

It is time to spend some campaign money and go to work. I think Rendell is beatable. But it will take some toiling in the vineyards.

I really, really despise Rendell. I saw him speak on my campus (Penn is as politically neutral as, say, DNC headquarters) and he is a new paradigm in socialist slime.
We should have gotten the workers out and sent him into the mineshaft...

I don't blame Schweiker for not running, but it would certainly be nice if he did a little campaigning.

There is a website for Fisher - I ran a Google search and it came right up. On Monday 8/5, a fundraising luncheon was held in Pittsburgh which President Bush attended (I know, I got stuck in the traffic shutdown when he was leaving :)
On Fisher's website, there is a volunteer section in which you can check off how you would like to help with the campaign - GO THERE and do something! :)
I say we start compiling info and start Freeping this election.

I received a nice shiney bumper sticker for Fisher/Earll......... sorry, I didn't open it and my husband can't remember if it came from the State campaign, or the Republican National Office.............

Rendell has been to our small town in Northeast PA about three times. Fisher I think once. Plus Rendell has face and name recognition. Rendell looks like a thug to me, but a lot of the retired seniors aroud here will vote for him. I don't think Fisher has a chance. Too bad Schweiker isn't running. Most people are apolitical and judge on appearance. Schweiker got a lot of good press with the miners. He wasn't a camera hog. A compassionate, one of the people guy. He would have made Rendell look like the sleaze he is.

I am going to point out (as I have on other posts) that Im not a Rendell backer. I find a lot of his politics either stupid or offensive.
That being said, as a Philadelphian, Ive had occasion to interact with him on many occasions. While he does look like a thug on T.V. (kinda reminds me of a retired boxer) the man does have amazing charisma.
He knows that each hand he shakes is a likely vote since, as you pointed out most people are apolitical.
Fisher has to get the issues out to people. If he thinks he can count on the areas outside of the Delaware Valley and Pittsburgh to automatically go against a Philadelphian, hes going to be sadly surprised.
Whats so damn angering about this is that Fisher HAD this election wrapped up after the primary and he hasnt done ANYTHING to get his name and views out there. At the rate hes going, the dems wont even have to cheat to win this election.

Hopefully Fisher is a traditionalist who believes that a campaign doesn't begin until after Labor Day.
If he ends up losing, a large part of the blame can be placed on those thousands of gun-owning members of labor unions throughout Pa. who will vote for the anti-gun Rendell because their union told them to.

Yeah, I think Rendell would have real problems with the soccer mom vote. If somebody told me he had connections with the mob, my response would be surprise, I'd figure he was running it.
Because of the primary, people know who Rendell is, nobody knows Fisher.

I wonder if Rendell knows why Schweiker ain't running?

I, too, think it's a real shame Schweiker's not running, and have been wondering why (I'm not from PA)...he sure looked good during the miner rescue situation, and of course Rendell is so infamous I wouldn't want him (Rendell) governing any state (even if they are the "home of the Steelers", heheHE!!)! ;)
