Informal Poll: Should Jim Robinson make money from FR?
Today, don't ask me to be more specific..

I am sick of the whining about FR's finances.
Free Republic has become the Rush Limbaugh of the internet and all this complaining about who is doing what and profiting thus is making me Ill. It's a circular argument and I am tired of it.
Real Conservatives reward success. We honor it.
As a final end to this:
Would you oppose or favor Mr. Robinson making a profit from FR.

I think the question was more to the effect of "Should JimRob be making money off FR?"
Exactly..
It's the battle cry of the anti-freeps. They eat, sleep and live this stuff.
They bitch endlessly about it.

Jim and his son would already be multi-millionaires if they sold their home-built BBS software like VBBS does.
I still don't understand why they won't.
To: Jhoffa_
He should make money. He can keep my 25 bucks a month. (yeah, okay, I'm not rich)
To: Jhoffa_
Yes.
To: Jhoffa_
Anybody whining about Jim or John taking a salary from their 24/7 jobs is just plain jealous. He thought of the idea and worked hard to make it successful.
Sour grapes!
As far as I'm concerned I couldn't care less how much that is. Donating isn't mandatory. If we don't want FR, we don't have to donate and the site would go away.
As with most things, FR is consumer driven.

But seriously, I hope some good comes of this thread and that those who work so hard to put this forum together can at least be rewarded with a good living.
Me Too..
And I hope for once and for all the anti-freeps will shut the heck up about it..
Crimeney sakes.. They have been barfing up this same argument for years now.

YES, YES, YES. This site is an important source of information . . and lots of fun too! This is free enterprise and free press at its best. Why shouldn't he be rewarded for his effort?
To: knak
It's not our call to make. It's his site. He can do what he wants with it.Yes, of course. And it would be perfectly proper for him to pay himself a salary for the work that he does, keeping reasonable control on discussions which sometimes cross his established guidelines. Indeed, only one who is very naive, could seriously challenge his right to alot some compensation for his efforts. By analogy, there is probably no major charity or educational foundation where those running it are not being paid out of the proceeds. Why should running an educational forum and rallying venue on the internet require a greater sacrifice?

"Most things worth doing are worth doing for a profit."Anything worth doing is worth doing for a profit.
Jim has created a wonderful winner; get the reward.

Just wondering.........how can you compare what Rush or O'Reilly do to what JR does?

Free Republic is funded solely by donations from readers. Donations and official correspondence should be mailed to: Free Republic, LLC, PO Box 9771, Fresno, CA 93794 (donations are NOT tax deductible). Actually, this brings up another point:
Why isn't Free Republic a tax exempt charity?
It would be nice to be able to get a tax deduction for our donations---and salaries could still be paid.
FR is no more biased politically than NPR.

Informal Poll: Should Jim Robinson make money from FR? Hell, YES!
Why is this even a question?
What am I missing? Capitalism rules. You do your best, Jim. When I give money to FR, it's for your use as you wish.
To: Jhoffa_
Yep...
And plenty of it too.

Good point.. I think Mr Robinson does it better than either of these.
We all have a say here and he does not play dictator.

What a great idea, sure let's open the site up to politically motivated IRS auditing and such.. this is a no-brainer, STAY NON-PROFIT!
To: Jhoffa_
It's entirely up to him as far as I'm concerned. It's his to do with what he wants and as he pleases.
