Informal Poll: Should Jim Robinson make money from FR?
Today, don't ask me to be more specific..

I am sick of the whining about FR's finances.
Free Republic has become the Rush Limbaugh of the internet and all this complaining about who is doing what and profiting thus is making me Ill. It's a circular argument and I am tired of it.
Real Conservatives reward success. We honor it.
As a final end to this:
Would you oppose or favor Mr. Robinson making a profit from FR.

Given the amount of time Jim has to put into making sure FR works for us (cuz I sure ain't a happy camper when it's down), I feel he should make money and even make some profit from FR. This is his creation and he makes sure it works. God knows he shouldn't do it for free.

I run a non-profit dog rescue charity. Although I spend at least 40 hours a week on the charity work, I don't take a salary---we would go broke if I did.Shame on you! I spend some time doing dog rescue transports, although I'm not affiliated with any single rescue. How in the HECK is a fellow FReeper supposed to make a donation if the information is not on your homepage, huh?
Now get busy on getting that info up there, and bump me to it when you do. ;)

We don't do things like that..

I know for a fact that Jim Robinson lives in a solid gold house with platinum shutters, and that he wipes his bum with treasury notes. His cat eats
foie gras and his parakeet cage is lined with Monets. He spends more on bouttonieres than you make in a decade. His garbage man has a custom-made tux, his gardener has the pool guy do the heavy lifting, and when Jim wanted a beer, he bought Milwaukee. He lives a life of pampered luxury that would make Caligula green with envy, and he's done it on the backs of poor, working-class slobs like us.
Oh, and he has Ted Kennedy over for brunch on odd Tuesdays, drives a mag-lev wheelchair, and is surrounded by buxom teen talent that makes Cindy Crawford look like a gorgon.

It gets hard because of the time factor. We can't always answer but if you send us the questions, I will try to answer as soon as possible.
To: SlickWillard
Like I said slick, you don't have to give a dime to this site, so why would you care what Jim makes or doesn't make? No one has a gun to your head demanding money from you, unlike our government does.
Who gives a damn?
Do like Joe does, enjoy the site, and give a few bucks if you want to. It aint no big deal. Keep it simple...

In a just world, JimRob would already be a multi-millionaire.

I certainly have no problem with someone making a profit with a project that takes as much time as this must.

If he was truely a libertarian, he'd respect JR's right to operate the forum in any manner he sees fit, INCLUDING the right to be inconsistant in enforcement of guidelines if he so chooses. For once you are right (about us libertarians! haha) well as I put earlier, I vote yes, JR should be able to make as much as he can get.

Not only would I not mind, I think he should make money form this great forum that is his brainchild. He works hard keeping this place as great as it is.
A registration fee would be acceptable to most. A monthly fee for useage and any donations during fund raising would be optional. Let the malcontents whine all they want. "If sticks and stones could break my bones", well, y'know.
To: RedBloodedAmerican
Nope. We are promised beer though, so that keeps our hopes going.

The count is 355 and I wont read the thread.
Yes Jim Robinson should unashamedly make a profit, if possible. I would prefer he does not use pop up adds, but it is his site, and he can do with it what he wills.
If I get really annoyed, I can return to LBFR.(Life before Free Republic)

I wish Jim Robinson would run for elected office.
I wish he would set up a loud and proud FReeperPac.
And furthermore, God Bless Jim Robinson.
He pursues happiness and brings happiness.
Long Live FReepers--Defenders of our Constitution
and if Jim Robinson profits in the finest traditions
of the good old American way,
more power to him!
and to FReepers too!
