Rep. Weiner: Clinton Serious About 'Fight and Die' Pledge
Newsmax ^ | 8/4/02

Posted on 08/04/2002 10:26:06 AM PDT by areafiftyone

Congressman Anthony Weiner, D-NY, predicted Sunday that Bill Clinton might actually make "alliyah" and join the Israeli army to fight terrorists, backing up a pledge he made last Monday when he told a Toronto audience that he was prepared to "grab a rifle, get in a trench and fight and die" if the Jewish state was attacked.

"If he says he's willing to go over there and die; look, a lot of people are very frustrated now," Weiner told WABC Radio's Steve Malzberg. "And when Israel has had its wars there have always been thousands of Americans that have made alliyah to go participate in that war. Maybe Bill Clinton will be one of them."

The Brooklyn Democrat said he didn't think the ex-president was merely pandering to the largely Jewish crowd at Toronto's Hadassah-Wizo Organization when he made the "fight and die" pledge.

"I don't know what his need would be to pander to anyone right now," he told WABC. "There could be no doubt that Bill Clinton devoted more time, energy and effort to matters relating to Israel and he felt personally betrayed by the way the peace process fell apart.

"He's obviously very dedicated and committed to it," Weiner added.

If Clinton had paid a bit more attention to military matters while he was commander in chief, he might understand that we've moved a ways past trench warfare.

Of course, his five Secret Service agents would tend to make Clinton's foxhole a bit crowded.

Hysterical. But has anyone actually reflected on the fact that if this b*gger manages to get into the idf for a spell, he can collect an Israeli citizenship? Hmmm?

God only knows what he could do with that.

I'm trying to remember which Democrat said a while back that Bush was too biased toward Israel when he sought peace between Israel and the PLO. They said Bush should be more neutral, if he expected to help the situation.

Liberals are so delusional.

For them, reality is like a theme park they might visit. Otherwise, it doesn't exist.

Well, talk is cheap as they say. I doubt that the Israeli army would want to waste time training his sorry ass. BTW, I would assume that Private Clinton would also have to leave his USSS body guards behind.

As I said before, Talk's Cheap. And its real cheap when your'e a 55 year old ex-president who wouldn't lift a finger to serve his own country when he had a chance speaking BS before a group of rich simpletons who would believe anything they were told if it came from a liberal (it would be truly horrible for them to realize that the only significant support worldwide for Israel outside the Jewish community comes from evangelical Americans). I doubt Congressman Anthony Weiner ever saw anything to do with the military, other than on TV; the same as his "hero", the Draft Dodger in Chief, Mr. Clinton.

I will not say that Clinton enjoys seeing many people killed by terrorists over there, though who knows what is really in his mind. However, does this congress critter think we are so stupid as to actually believe this garbage? This guy needs to get a life.

Reasons why the sinkmeister won't go:

1. He said the "Jewish State" and obviously, Israel isn't one of the 50 states.
2. He said he would get in a trench. The Israelis aren't starting any trench warfare, so there isn't anywhere for him to go.
3. During a war, "over there" is defined as Moscow and Oxford.
4. Wanted to grab a rifle, but the Israeli army insisted on giving him and "Assault" rifle, and that just wouldn't do.
5. Offer only applies to Iraqi army. Attacks by Iraqi Republic Guard, Iraqi navy, Iraqi air force, Palestinians, Saudis, Syrians, Egyptians, Jordanians, Hamas, Hezzballah, etc. do not count.
6. Exact location of Clinton Defense Line not stated. Likely location somewhere near Little Rock.
7. Did you say Israeli army? I thought you meant join the attacking Iraqi army.
