Hannity just stated on his radio show that he has just about had enough of the conservative cannibals on this board. To many threads end up being ledd about news and information and more about attacking fellow conservatives.
He said if he wants to get attacked he will go to a Liberal board.
I have a tendency to agree...
It has very little to do with what people's true feelings are. In fact, I'm sure that more people, deep down, agree with Buchanan than Bush. It's just that the above factors, coupled with political correctness, have led the country in the wrong direction.
Arrant claptrap!
Pat Buchanan got 0.04% of the vote because he's a crypto-fascist populist paranoia pimp.
How tall are you 7 feet?
I remember one day I was gritching about the politics of Barney Frank. Someone pointed out to me that he is overwhelmingly elected by his constituents. And although I detest that fact (and him, if truth be known), I am SO thankful that we live in a country where that can occur.
I also VERY much liked: It is basic strategery, if you will.
VERY GOOD stategery! LOL
I also am a pragmatist. And I know there are many who probably feel MUCH better with their vote for someone who doesn't stand a chance at being elected. But most of those, I have noticed, are the one who scream the loudest about the elected candidate...the one they HELPED elect, imo.
So it's us, not them that's changed?
I don't believe this to be the case. Furby dolls were a popular fad for a while; MM's main popularity seems to be only among those who huff Chevron 92 octane with Techroline as a hobby.
Paranoia pimp? So what would you call a government that routinely issues none specific threats of nuclear attacks, dirty bombs, small pox etc while leaving the doors and windows wide open to this country...
You think we are better off with what we got huh? What's the matter, Pat to much of a nationalist for you? Guess your more of a global guy huh?....
You were part of this problem, not part of the solution. But then, I suspect you already knew that. Thanks, AM
Buchanan thinks that too; that's why he keeps running.
You know what the definition of insanity is?
America has the government it wants. If you want something different, you're going to have to do a better job selling your ideas, 'cause right now, nobody's buying.
That's what I was thinking too CJ.
I, and others, were slamming him around Easter time when was quoting the NY Slimes and bashing Bush on the Israeli/Palestinian issue.
There is a diffeence between ideology and politics. Because I am a practical person, I favor the latter. I can get some of what I wish accomplished by getting someone elected, even if they do not agree with me on everything.
If someone who is opposed to everything I think gets elected, I have lost.
Yes, I would like to see more forthright defense of our positions in the media. There are two difficulties in this:
1.)Many people do not realize that the programs control who will be invited to speak. There is a reason that you don't see many effective conservative speakers on "Meet the Press" and "This Week." They are NOT INVITED! Instead, Tim and George invite the second string GOP, the ones they know are not effective. There is a reason that J.D. Hayworth only appears on the cable channels, you know.
2.) Many conservative politicians are not skilled in presentation. This is not necessarily bad, but if trying to appeal to the public at large, they labor under a mighty handicap. My personal thought is that Rumsfeld should be holding seminars. It would help people understand how to deal with the press without caving in.
These are things that we should be working on as far as the conservative representatives on the media are concerned. We also should, as grass roots people, understand what is going on and be working on ways to counteract the media strategy.
Although most of us are listeners of Fox and Rush, they doesn't reach the people we need to convert. A stealth strategy ("compassionate conservatism") is more likely to make it into the mainstream. I realize people hate that phrase, but it is very astute politically. Before you can change things, you must get elected; and in order to get elected, you must get people to listen. Please consider why the President says things in this manner, and look at the political landscape we would have had if he had lost the election.
