Did Gephardt Intend To Say " If More Americans Lose Their Job I Will Get A New Job?"

Congressman J D Hayworth was on FNC this morning! His interpretation of Dick Gephardt's purported statement that if the Democrats can keep associating economic problems with Republicans until the election they can pick up 40 seats in the House is:
"If more people lose their jobs I will have a new job!"
TOPICS: Government; News/Current Events
KEYWORDS: economy; gephardt

Well, knock me over with a feather. A Pubbie with an effective sound bite. If the Republicans are smart, (and act quickly) they should repeat this line of thinking over and over again until the sheeple finally "get it." The Democrats have been doing this sort of stuff successfully for years. Of course, probably only FOX News and a few conservative publications will actually repeat the message. (Sigh.) Hey, I can dream, can't I?

Hayworth has cojones, so the other sissy-marys in the GOP will scold him for being so mean-spirited.
IMHO, the GOP should be throwing rocks like this every day, all day, at the Rats.
It's just good bidness.

What Gephardt is supposed to have said:
that if his party can continue to exploit the exploding corporate scandals and pin the blame on the GOP they can pick up 40 seats in the House.
To: caddie
David Horowitz and I agree with you.

The dems play these sorts of word games all the time- I say let 'em get a taste of their own medicine. The dems have proved this is true (at least of their constituents) if you tell a lie again and again and again- dem voters will believe it.
A few GOPers ought to just come out and claim that Gephardt said "I hope Americans lose their jobs so I can get reelected".
Would it be a bald faced lie? Yes. Would it work? Probably. Because at the core of the issue, that is what Dickie boy was insinuating. "If this thing plays out right..." Had a Conservative said that- the dems would have already twisted it around and made a campaign slogan out of it. I say do it to 'em baby!
