Depends on how many are there.
To: Catspaw
He's toast.
Now moving on to Toricelli.... hey wait.... he's not up for a vote?
heh.
Trafficant is a crook who got caught. Its a royal tragedy that all the other crooks in Congress have so far skated, and its a shame that prosecution is selective. Nevertheless Trafficant is GUILTY. Expel him. To not do so because he is a vocal sometimes conservo-populist(though not necessarily in his votes) is no different than the Clinton mafia(Democrats) letting all their cronies skate. Sure its galling watching all those hypocrites, knowing that Marxist Maxine should be next in line. But two wrongs don't make a right. We are the party against moral relativism, against corruption, against favoritism, so we must resist the temptation to give in to such when short-term gain is offered.
Just because we are frustrated watching so many criminals get away with it(for now), doesn't mean we should abandon our desire and duty to purge the dishonest. Avoiding expulsion will just allow the future Corzines, Morans, Waters, Torricellis, Lotts, Franks, et al. an excuse to avoid their punishment, if those deserved days ever come. To not expel just increases the likelihood that they will never see justice. To expel at least keeps the procedure alive, and easier to use when even more worthy cases(half the Democratic party) arise.

which dem voted nay? Traficant. He does still get a vote. At least until this vote is finished.
To: mhking
A single PRESENT vote - Is this gonna be unanimous Well when they said for all nays to speak it was silent. Then they asked for all Aye votes to stand and all Nays to be seated. Traficant invoked parliamentiary (sp?) procedure to get a recorded electronic vote ..... that will be in about 15 minutes from now.
To: Silly
Does it have to be 2/3 of those present or 2/3 of the total House members to expel him? If the latter, then members could in effect vote against expulsion by simply not voting.
To: Catspaw
One dem just voted no.Of course - Traficant himself.
To: marajade
i wonder who voted present? My guess is Steve Latourette
To: Howlin

To: Constitution Day
290 ,he's outta here!
To: Two Thirds Vote Aye
But has his behavior over the last week been exemplary of a Member of Congress, or something from the gutter? Why didn't he just have the CLASS to resign? If he had CLASS he wouldn't have been in Congress.

Nadler may be the sole nay vote .. He wants to eat him instead :-|
To: michigander
Did Condidit vote?
To: snippy_about_it
Well, you certainly have a point there. That's just what I meant. WHY ON EARTH, IN A TIME OF WAR, does the House have to spend their time entertaining this? When the terrorists hit us again, is this what we are going to focus on? Or will there be other, more important issues to consider?
