But perched in his rig at a truck stop near Jessup, Md., George Freeman shook his pony-tailed head at a proposed terrorism informant network that would rely on millions of American workers to feed the government tips on suspicious activity.

"It's going to be overused and abused, especially with people so nervous as it is," said Freeman, 45, who hauls produce cross-country. "You're going to have people running every which way looking for terrorists and their 15 minutes of glory."

This sheet was designed to "assist uniformed patrol officers in identifying potential domestic terrorism."

Notice hwo there is no mention of being a muslim male around 16-40.

I agree totally with the truck driver, and I think recent history (not even counting world history, human nature, etc) should make it absolutely obvious.

(Back when Janet Reno was the Prosecuting Attorney of Miami-Dade County, Florida and set the tone for what things would be prosecuted), there would be about 10,000 reported cases of "child abuse" and it was well-known that Reno was gung-ho on destroying people's lives with such a charge. Even the newspaper indicated that 6,000 of the 10,000 (for whatever year that was that I read this) were absolutely groundless and consisted of people accusing ex-spouses, enemies, whoever. So even given that were some that may have merited further review, there were untold tens of thousands of families just in that one county whose lives were disrupted or perhaps even damaged seriously by the very kind of program that TIPS would soon become.

Congressman Armey is right on this.
