The modern musician, actor, performer will do anything to further a career and agents, djs, tabloid media and schlock tv, will happily play along. It is the sign of our time and symptomatic of our degredation.

Even in our day there are some things people cannot do. Although it seems that some of the things that are allowed are worse than what is allowed. For instance the white rapper Eminem raps about killing his wife and cutting her up into pieces, and the media pretends its a controversy but they play his stuff and promote it. If, however, Eminem were to go the John Rocker route, or rap about how much he hates black people his stuff would go off the air immediately and his label would drop him like a bad habit.

Even in today's world Earle has gone too far. He will not be played on the radio, stores will not carry his album, people will no buy it online. Maybe he will have some success in other parts of the world, but not in this country.
