Is it Weird Al Yankovich?
To: gilor
What a shame. This guy has put out some great music since he "cleaned up", and before that, as well. This might rank right up there with the all-time dumbest career moves.
Looks like this is another name to remove from my "must-buy" list.
To: gilor
Oops. This didn't come up in my search, so I posted the article too. My initial reaction... "You've got to be kidding me!" (With an expletive or two.)
To: gilor
"This song just may get me f---ing deported." Well, it's a free country, with free speech and all, so it won't, BUT...
It's a free country, with a free economy and all, and at the very least, it will kill his sales, and hopefully, his carreer.
(A better title might be "How Stupid Can You Be?" or "So You Want To Be Popular, Huh?")
To: zip
"In crowd" of liberals and country music...I don't see it happening.
To: baseballfanjm
I think it's Ray Stevens, but I could be wrong :0)

Maybe we can prevail upon Doug From Upland to run with this? ;0)

Wouldn't be hard for a man of his talent.

Might it not help to PING the man???? I'm guessing that telepathy might not be a talent of his...

Was he once a patriotic musician?
To: a merkin
Red Foreman, is that you?
To: stands2reason
I'm guessing that telepathy might not be a talent of his... Well, ya never know. I mean, why judge people? ;0)
To: Major Matt Mason
Was his music ever good? It sounds like he has been a leftist for a long time.
To: Motherhood IS a career
Would we really be any worse off if he was deported to the socialist countries of Canada and Europe that the traitor likes so much.
To: a merkin
I've got no idea who this dumbass Earle is. Dumbass lyrics and dumbass "music," no doubt, like 95% of what you hear on AM or FM these days. I am confused here. Is this traitor popular or not?
To: Bowana
This song has obvious Christian references? Why would a traitor sing a song like this?
To: Bowana
I see that he has recorded a song which encourages draft resistance.
My Uncle
(Chris Hillman, Gram Parsons)
(Steve Earle version)
A letter came today from my draft board
With trembling hands I read the questionnaire
It asked a lot of questions 'bout my mamma and poppa
That ain't exactly what I call fair
Chorus:
So I'm headed for the nearest foreign border
Vancouver might be just my kind of town
'Cause they ain't got the kind of law and order
That tends to keep a good man underground
A sad old soldier once told me a story
About a battlefield that he was on
He said a man should never fight for glory
I guess he knows what's right and what is wrong
chorus
Now I don't know how much I owe my uncle
I expect that it's more than I can pay
He's asking me to sign a three year contract
I guess I'll catch the next bus out today
chorus x 2
He has a also recorded a song by well known leftist Bob Dylan.
To: Conservative Chicagoan
I have no idea. Remain confused.

Ballad Honors Taliban John Here's the real ballad "honoring" Taliban John:
Lawyers, Funds, and Rummy,
by Johnny "Werewolf" Walker
(parody of Warren Zevon's "Lawyers, Guns, & Money")
("Lawyers, Guns, and Money" lyrics)
Well, I went to the madrassas
Dad paid my way through school
How was I to know
They would take me someplace cool
After reading my Qur'an, yeah
Life took a little twist
Send lawyers, funds, and Rummy
Dad, get me out of this
I'm an innocent Talebanner
Some guys got no luck
Now I'm locked in a dark place
And I'm down to my last buck
Yes, I'm down to my last buck
Well, I'm down to my last buck
Tell them guys that I'm a tourist
Hatch a desperate plan
Send lawyers, funds, and Rummy
Shoulda' stayed in Pakistan
Send lawyers, funds, and Rummy...

He has a also recorded a song by well known leftist Bob Dylan. Bob Dylan hasn't been a leftist since he broke up with Joan Baez over 35 years ago.

Didn't we already have a Johnny Walker ballad here on the FR called "Taliban Man" sung to the tune of "Candy Man"?
I think some of the lyrics went something like:
If Anybody Can,
The Taliban Man Can.... etc.
I started it out with the above lyrics but other Freepers filled in the rest. Can anybody pull that one up?
