My "Steve Earle collection" consists of a single CD which I bought some years ago in a pawn shop, and I didn't particularly enjoy it.
In fact, the only tune he's ever done that I did like was his first big one, "Guitar Town," which was the reason I bought this one.
It is time to throw that one CD away; he's in the same area of my music preference as Barbra Streisand, as of now.

Great move.. While I suspect your average country music fan doesn't care squat about the palestinian/israel conflict (they probably just call them all arabs and couldn't care less) they are probably bright enough to catch him making snide remarks about America.

"I'm thinkin' this will have a very negative effect. "

Unfortunately in the entertainment business bad PR is better than no PR.

This guy may be from Austin, but I can only hope he runs into some Real Texans someday in a nice dark alley.

Actually I think the Austin comment was about the fact that Austin is the Berkley of Texas.

I wish you were right but with 40% of America being hard core leftists I think the "in crowd" of liberals will buy it as an "in your face" gesture.

I could be wrong but I think Earle has always had a pretty right wing fan base, including a lot of vets and Freepers...none of whom will support him after this.

This new album might get a "bump" from the left over this but then I predict his career is over in the US. He'll be lucky to play coffeehouses in Ithaca NY.

He has to come home from Europe first... which brings up another point... anyone ever notice how, whenever some artist/movie star/author/musician does/says/releases something anti-american, they are always in Europe when it's reported????? What cowards...

You're right, but the response from PJeffQ is interesting because it illustrates what I've said time and time again: Those with an agenda filter EVERYTHING through the Template of that agenda.
