The Bush Administration cannot afford the attitude this displays:
============================================
Fair Use Advocates Silenced by Big Brother
TOPICS: Business/Economy; Government; Miscellaneous
KEYWORDS: bigbusiness; copyright; freespeech; public
Advocates trying to speak for regular Internet users were basically told to sit down and shut up during a "public" workshop on digital rights management dominated by IT heavyweights and Big Hollywood at the U.S. Department of Commerce Wednesday....... (see link)

I can't say I'm in favor of stealing copyrighted stuff. But on the other hand, Hollywierd and the music companies have huge and bloated monopolies that artificially increase the costs of entertainment.
In particular, music is way overpriced. And for that matter, almost all of it is junk today. The big companies are angleing for a stranglehold so they can avoid having to change their business model.
What they don't yet realize is that its too late. Music will be drastically reduced in price by the time this is over.

Why is this Bush's fault? Was he there? Did he set the agenda? Is Commerce even under the executive branch?

According to the
Slashdot article, some of the "fair use advocates" were being very rude and obnoxious. That really doesn't help our cause.

"Is Commerce even under the executive branch?"
The Department of Commerce is in the Executive Branch, which is made clear by the fact that the head of the Departmemnt of Commerce is the Secretary of Commerce, a member of the President's Cabinet.

I can never keep track of the spaghetti and wear it ends, that was actually an honest question. Still don't see how it's all Bush's fault, there's a reason there are so many secretaries, one guy just can't micro-manage all the crap, hasn't been able to for a long time.

I am sure that he is unaware of the specifics -- but it is appearances like this that cost votes.

Appearrances like what? The appearance that some loud mouths showed up without an invitation to an agendaed meeting and weren't allowed to take the floor? The fact that the nearest place willing to cover it was The Register in England, and even they didn't blame Bush that's all coming from you, shows just how little impact this non-event has on the presidency.

Humm, title of article, when clicking on link, reads "Fair Use Advocates Silenced by Big Brother." NOWHERE does it state Bush needs to wake up. Your agenda is showing.
To: Wisconsin
PLUS the fact this is a UK publication. I repeat, your agenda is showing.
