She apparently is a jerk, but she was a serious turn-on in 'Barefoot in the Park' (what a body)......with that other actor (Redford) whom I would prefer to like because of his Sundance character.......but he's a reactionary, enviro- whacko too! My, my !

Thanks for the heads up. I'll try to catch it.

Also, note that Evan Thomas, Newsweek and RFK's biographer, is on C-SPAN1 at 9:00 AM Eastern.

Talent and character are not synonymous.

I think Barbra Streisand's the best female pop vocalist of the Twentieth Century. But what a B**ch.

Hey, ....bag, I was only talking about her sweet body and sex appeal in "Barefoot in The Park".

Everyone with a brain in their head knows she was a worthless commie pretender. Now, go rent the movie, you 'stuffed-shirt' !!!! (Hope someone gets that!)

IT'S EASY TO STAND UP FOR COMMUNISM AND SOCIALISM WHEN YOU SIT HAPPILY, AND COMFORTABLY IN A CASTLE !!!

But she sure had a nice a$$ !!! Her mother committed suicide, I believe when she was in college. I had my father jump off a bridge to his death when I was 14.

Some of these kinds of things change your life. Give Jane a break! She's not going to sit on any more tanks in Vietnam, and I'll bet your righteous, self-important a$$ will be happy about that !!!!

Hope you don't mind if I bump your thread again with this:

RFK's Biographer, Evan Thaomas, is on C-SPAN now and has been asked many questions about the assassinations of the 60's. He puts absolutely no faith in any of the conspiracy theories of both Kennedy assassinations but believes the MLK hit probably was the result of a "Truck Stop" conspiracy. In other words, he believes, and said, MLK Jr. was killed by a "Red Neck" conspiracy.

As far as I am concerned his book can collect dust on the bookstore shelves.

"I think Barbra Streisand's the best female pop vocalist of the Twentieth Century. "......

GOD !!!!!! I think she sounds (and looks) like a possum in a leg trap in the middle of a cold, bitter winter night. (Maybe the possum would sound better - when Babs sings....it's not about the song itself.....it's about Babs.)

Just another self-absorbed CASTLE-COMMUNIST !!!!!!! Bring back the Reds!

Vocalist??????? She sounds like a shreiking, lonely wharthog.

Try listening to Karen Carpenter, Nancy Wilson (from the 50's, 60's - "Guess Who I Saw Today?", Roberta Flack, Bette Midler, etc.). Babs is just a figment of the (Oh, God - here we go) Jewish Music Industry Sales Machine. You would have never heard of the warbler if her folks weren't pushing her bombastic presentation!

With her crooning, she could wake up the crows at 4:45 a.m. in a New York landfill!

She is a great actress, though! "NUTS"......she was GREAT ! Very Appropriate!

Love you, Babs!

What about Aretha? Chaka Khan? I think both sing better and have influenced far more musicians than Streisand.

I don't agree with Streisand's Democratic Party politics, but she NEVER went to an enemy country and broadcast Tokyo-Rose style rantings.

I guess it depends on the music you enjoy most. To me Aretha is essentially one, single style. Same with Chaka Khan, although I agree both are good.

Babs is more versatile.

No, she's pretty much stayed here and done her best to turn US into a Marxist "dictatorship of the proletariat."

Add Helen Reddy to your list of good pop 70's or so female vocalists... and there are several others of note too...

However, I am actually more interested when I see anything about Fonda that her quite recent, and apparently very serious, conversion to be a rather conservative evangelical Christian is ignored. I understood her "elders" were advising her to be pretty quiet about that, but it has been so very quiet that I wonder if that has gone by the boards. I am pretty certain that was a major factor in Turner divorcing her, but not much else about my knowledge here is more than very fuzzy.

"ChasingFletch, I consider this a personal attack.".....

CONSIDER again. It's NOT a personal attack. 'Self-absorbed' is not an attack.

Everyone may grow up and out eventually......even Jane and you.

Good luck with that!

I have no clue on her "changes" in that regard either. I hope for her the best, she's been down the road. But that was really foolish in the Vietnam Era. But, there were alot of fools in that era. (Hillary and Bill, etc.)

p.s. The "stuffed shirt" comment was a line Jane used in "Barefoot in The Park" when referring to Redford's button-down lawyer character. That movie was great......the fellow servicing the phone was hilarious....(Murray the Cop in "The Odd Couple"). Oh well, take care!
