(Hartford-AP, July 11, 2002 7:19 PM) _ The hotly contested race for the Fifth Congressional District got even hotter today with a flap over campaign contributions.

Democratic Congressman James Maloney criticized Congresswoman Nancy Johnson, a Republican, for accepting a $2,000 campaign contribution from an executive of The Stanley Works.

Both Johnson and Maloney strongly oppose the company's plans to reincorporate in Bermuda.

Maloney said Johnson accepted the money from Stanley's chief financial officer, the person responsible for the reincorporation plans.

Johnson's campaign shot back with accusations of their own, claiming Maloney has a scandalous record when it comes to campaign contributions. Maloney returned more than $12,000 earlier this year to resolve a complaint filed by his opponent in the 2000 race.

Johnson, a ten-term congresswoman, and Maloney, a three-term congressman, will face each other in November following the elimination of one of Connecticut's six congressional districts as a result of the 2000 Census.

Really, I don't know who's worse - Maloney the flaming liberal or Johnson, a flaming liar who talks Republican, but votes liberal. For those of you not familiar with this situation, Stanley Works the toolmaker and one of the state's largest employers recently decided to incorporate in Bermuda to make a statement about paying increasing state taxes caused by out-of-control state spending.

Johnson is a R.I.N.O. all the way.
Her support of H1B visas makes her an enemy of all high tech citizen workers.
